Description

The back and sides of this hairstyle is tapered into the head with subtle layers through the top styled over to the side for a chic look and feel. The bangs are combed to the side to soften the face and completes the over-all 'do brilliantly. Product is needed to keep this hairstyle is in place.

Michelle Williams looks gorgeous here in a sleek short hairstyle that brings her gorgeous facial features into the spotlight. Michelle suits short hair well, due to her round face shape and high cheekbones. She also looks best in styles with grown out bangs thanks to her short forehead. The tapered sides and back in this cut show off her face nicely, while the sleek finish brings the focus up to her eyes. This ‘do works well with her hair type, which is fine and straight and looks best in cuts that are styled with precision. The fringe sits softly to the side creating a feminine finish.

As for her color, Michelle has a fair, cool complexion, dark eyes and naturally dark blonde hair. Here she lightens up her locks immensely by going to a platinum blonde tone that looks fabulous with her complexion. This color adds extra style to her simple 'do and is guaranteed to turn heads wherever she goes. It also adds the appearance of thickness to her fine hair.

Styling Steps

1. Comb Hair

Placeholder articles

Comb your hair into the desired direction that you require for styling.

2. Apply Gel Spray to Roots

Placeholder articles

Hold the gel spray no closer than 3 inches from your hair and then evenly mist the gel spray into the roots to create a stronger hold style. Gel spray will hold well and will not look wet or weigh the hair down. Using your gel spray in this fashion will create added hold and a longer lasting style.

3. Part to the Left

Placeholder articles

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your left eye and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even left part. A side part is great for longer face shapes because it creates the illusion of width.

4. Finger Dry the Back with Blow-dryer

Placeholder articles

Use your blow-dryer and your fingers to dry the back of your hair by moving your hair around to allow the heat to pass through it.

5. Use a Small Radial Brush

Placeholder articles

A small radial brush is used on shorter hair types to add more body or in longer hair types to create curl. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

6. Blow-dry Straight on the Sides

Placeholder articles

Using your brush, blow-dry in small sections starting from the sides. Tilting your head forward, place the brush an inch below the roots to hold them taut and aim the dryer above the brush for a few seconds before continuing to the ends. Repeat this step on a new section directly above the dry one.

7. Blow-dry the Crown

Placeholder articles

To blow-dry the crown/top sections, take a section of hair no bigger than the diameter of the brush and blow-dry the hair placing the brush under the section of hair. With your blow-dryer in front of the brush, follow the brush in an upwards direction at the roots and an outwards position at the ends for volume and softness. Continue until the section is dry.

8. Blow-dry Bangs Forward to the Right

Placeholder articles

When blow-drying your bangs to the side, section your hair up and clip your hair back to leave only your bangs out. Remember to make sure that your bangs are damp to make blow-drying more effective. Next, take your brush and place it underneath the hair and then blow-dry starting from the roots, adding tension to the hair as you go. Slowly pull your section down to the ends and continue until dry.

9. Style Hair Down at the Back Using Moulding Cream

Placeholder articles

Apply some moulding cream to your fingertips and then pull it through the ends of your hair in a downward motion to achieve a textured look.

10. Style Sides Down Using Moulding Cream

Placeholder articles

Using a small amount of moulding cream, work it through the mid-lengths and ends in a downward motion. For added texture, pinch the ends as you go sparingly.

11. Style Bangs to the Right Using Moulding Cream

Placeholder articles

Apply moulding cream to your fingertips then gently rake through your bangs, sweeping the hair to the right as you go. Be careful not to use too much product as it can become sticky and clumpy.

12. Style Sides Behind Ear Using Moulding Cream

Placeholder articles

Apply a small amount of moulding cream to your fingertips, then place it at the roots above your ear and drag it through as you pull your hair behind your ear.
