Description

The back and sides of Jackie Cruz's bowl cut is tapered close to the head whole the top is left longer and layered through the ends. This artsy 'do is styled forward to create a low-fuss yet chic hairstyle that is best suited for those with fine to medium hair. Only a small amount of product is needed to pinch through the ends and regular trims will help to maintain its shape. Jackie's rich chocolate brown hair color looks great here too and shows off her edgy cut with style.

Styling Steps

1. Apply Straightening Balm

Straighteningbalm

Squeeze a small amount of straightening balm into your palms and then rub your hands together before smoothing the product evenly through damp hair.

2. Use a Small Radial Brush

Brushsmall

A small radial brush is used on shorter hair types to add more body or in longer hair types to create curl. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

3. Blow-dry Straight Back

Backstraight

Using your brush, blow-dry in small sections starting from the nape/back. Tilting your head forward, place the brush an inch below the roots to hold them taut and aim the dryer above the brush for a few seconds before continuing to the ends.

4. Blow-dry the Crown

Crown

To blow-dry the crown/top sections, take a section of hair no bigger than the diameter of the brush and blow-dry the hair placing the brush under the section of hair. With your blow-dryer in front of the brush, follow the brush in an upwards direction at the roots and an outwards position at the ends for volume and softness. Continue until the section is dry.

5. Blow-dry Straight on the Sides

Sidesstraight

Using your brush, blow-dry in small sections starting from the sides. Tilting your head forward, place the brush an inch below the roots to hold them taut and aim the dryer above the brush for a few seconds before continuing to the ends. Repeat this step on a new section directly above the dry one.

6. Blow-dry Bangs Forward

Bangsforwardbdry

When blow-drying your bangs forward, clip your hair back leaving only your bangs out. Position your bangs evenly in your brush, taking the hair in a forward direction. Blow-dry from roots to ends, keeping the tension consistent, and evenly distribute heat over the whole section of hair that you are working on. Repeat until the hair is dry. This will stop any frizz that may occur.

7. Style Bangs Forward Using Moulding Cream

Bangsforward

Apply a small amount of moulding cream to your fingertips and then using your fingers, rake through your bangs to the ends for hold and texture.
