Description

Loose curls are dressed through the ends of these shiny brunette locks to give the overall style movement and bounce, while the fringe dusts the eyes for a sexy finish. This formal style is easy to re-create at home with the right tools and needs a little product to tame fly-away hair. Regular trims are needed to prevent split ends.

Sofia Vergara looks gorgeous here in a voluminous, long hairstyle. Having an oblong face shape and high, rounded hairline, her face looks best in ‘dos with fringe and a longer length. This layered 'do creates a nice frame for her face and allows her hair’s naturally thick texture to do its thing, adding body and bounce all over. The loose curls in the front of this 'do softens up her jaw line area and gives her tresses some movement. This cut also highlights her strong cheekbones thanks to the long fringe that creates a dynamic line in the front. The layered style of fringe looks great on Sofia and highlights her eyes without boxing her face in.

Sofia has a warm complexion with golden undertones and blue-green eyes. This makes her suited to hair colors that have a warm base to them, like the medium golden brunette and caramel blonde tones seen here. This natural-looking shade is ideal for her complexion and it brings out the intensity of her eye color. A darker root area and lighter tips gives her 'do a beachy feel, not to mention the darker bangs add emphasis to her eyes.

Sofía Vergara is a Colombian-American actress and model. Vergara rose to prominence while co-hosting two television shows for Spanish-language television network Univisión in the late 1990s.

Styling Steps

1. Part the Middle

Placeholder articles

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your nose and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even middle part. A middle part is a great way to make small, round face shapes appear longer and thinner.

2. Use a Large Radial Brush

Placeholder articles

A large radial brush is usually used on long straight hair types or to smooth out wavy or curly hair textures. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

3. Blow-dry the Back Under

Placeholder articles

To blow-dry under, start at the nape/back and place your brush under the section of hair close to the nape. With the dryer held up over the hair, pull the brush from the roots and continue to the mid length's, keeping the blow-dryer following over the top. Once you reach the ends, curve them under. Repeat this step until the section is completely dry.

4. Blow-dry the Sides Under

Placeholder articles

To blow-dry the sides, take out a small section of hair from the front and clip the rest of the hair away. Next, place the brush under the section and then pull the brush and hair forward around your face (this curving motion creates body). Place the hair-dryer on top of the brush until you reach the ends and then turn the ends under. Repeat until dry.

5. Blow-dry the Crown

Placeholder articles

To blow-dry the crown/top sections, take a section of hair no bigger than the diameter of the brush and blow-dry the hair placing the brush under the section of hair. With your blow-dryer in front of the brush, follow the brush in an upwards direction at the roots and an outwards position at the ends for volume and softness. Continue until the section is dry.

6. Blow-dry Bangs Forward

Placeholder articles

When blow-drying your bangs forward, clip your hair back leaving only your bangs out. Position your bangs evenly in your brush, taking the hair in a forward direction. Blow-dry from roots to ends, keeping the tension consistent, and evenly distribute heat over the whole section of hair that you are working on. Repeat until the hair is dry. This will stop any frizz that may occur.

7. Use Large Hot Rollers

Placeholder articles

A large hot roller is used to give your hair a larger curl and to add lots of body.

8. Apply Hot Rollers Vertically in the Back

Placeholder articles

Take a section of hair from the nape no wider than the diameter of the hot roller and comb it through to ensure there are no knots. Place the roller at the ends of the section of hair, being sure to smooth the ends under, and then twist the roller vertically down the hair shaft to the roots and secure it with a pin or clip. Continue this step until the entire back section of your hair is completed. Keep the rollers in your hair until they cool.

9. Apply Hot Rollers Vertically to the Side

Placeholder articles

Take a section of hair no wider than the diameter of the hot roller and comb it through to ensure there are no knots. Place the roller at the ends of the section of hair, being sure to smooth the ends under, and then twist the roller vertically, making sure to roll it backwards, along the hair shaft to the roots and secure it with a pin or clip. Keep the rollers in your hair until they cool.

10. Style Hair Down at the Back Using Moulding Cream

Placeholder articles

Apply some moulding cream to your fingertips and then pull it through the ends of your hair in a downward motion to achieve a textured look.

11. Style Sides Out Using Moulding Cream

Placeholder articles

To get your sides to sit out, apply a small amount of moulding cream to your fingertips and then working mainly on the ends, pinch them while dragging the hair in an out and upwards motion. The more moulding cream and the more pinching that you apply, the more textured and pasty the result.

12. Softly Flick Sides Using Wax

Placeholder articles

Apply a small amount of wax to your fingertips, and then starting about halfway down the hair shaft, pinch and drag the hair in a downward motion before flicking the ends out. Remember not to apply too much wax as it will weigh your hair down.
