Description

Large loose waves are dressed through the mid-lengths and ends to give this formal style plenty of volume and bounce. This 'do is easy to achieve at home with right tools and needs product for shine and hold. Regular trims are needed every 4-6 weeks to prevent split ends.

Julianne Hough looks gorgeous here in wavy long tresses that have been swept to one side. This hairstyle shows off her thick, glossy tresses and frames her heart shaped face well. Julianne has a strong bone structure and a high forehead, so a simple layered cut and grown out fringe like this one is ideal for her. To create an elegant evening look, she has swept her locks to one side, showing off her neck and shoulder area and softening up her angular jaw line. The hair can be left as is, or pinned at the nape of the neck for extra hold.

Julianne has a fair, cool skin tone, icy blue eyes, naturally blonde hair and dark eyebrows. This means she is best suited to cool shades of blonde hair but could also pull off dramatic brunette tones too. Here, she goes for her signature platinum ash blonde tone all over with subtle icy white highlights throughout. This color gives her complexion a cool glow and makes her striking blue eyes pop, while contrasting with her dark eyebrows for a stunning overall look.

Julianne Hough is an American dancer, singer, and actress. She is a two-time professional champion of ABC's Dancing with the Stars.

Styling Steps

1. Part to the Right

Partright

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your right eye and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even right part. A side part is great for longer face shapes because it creates the illusion of width.

2. Use a Large Radial Brush

Brushlarge

A large radial brush is usually used on long straight hair types or to smooth out wavy or curly hair textures. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

3. Blow-dry Straight Back

Backstraight

Using your brush, blow-dry in small sections starting from the nape/back. Tilting your head forward, place the brush an inch below the roots to hold them taut and aim the dryer above the brush for a few seconds before continuing to the ends.

4. Blow-dry Straight on the Sides

Sidesstraight

Using your brush, blow-dry in small sections starting from the sides. Tilting your head forward, place the brush an inch below the roots to hold them taut and aim the dryer above the brush for a few seconds before continuing to the ends. Repeat this step on a new section directly above the dry one.

5. Blow-dry the Crown

Crown

To blow-dry the crown/top sections, take a section of hair no bigger than the diameter of the brush and blow-dry the hair placing the brush under the section of hair. With your blow-dryer in front of the brush, follow the brush in an upwards direction at the roots and an outwards position at the ends for volume and softness. Continue until the section is dry.

6. Use Large Hot Rollers

Largehotroller

A large hot roller is used to give your hair a larger curl and to add lots of body.

7. Apply Hot Rollers Vertically in the Back

Horizontalbackroller

Take a section of hair from the nape no wider than the diameter of the hot roller and comb it through to ensure there are no knots. Place the roller at the ends of the section of hair, being sure to smooth the ends under, and then twist the roller vertically down the hair shaft to the roots and secure it with a pin or clip. Continue this step until the entire back section of your hair is completed. Keep the rollers in your hair until they cool.

8. Apply Hot Rollers Vertically to the Side

Verticalsideroller

Take a section of hair no wider than the diameter of the hot roller and comb it through to ensure there are no knots. Place the roller at the ends of the section of hair, being sure to smooth the ends under, and then twist the roller vertically, making sure to roll it backwards, along the hair shaft to the roots and secure it with a pin or clip. Keep the rollers in your hair until they cool.

9. Comb Hair

Comb

Comb your hair into the desired direction that you require for styling.

10. Apply Lacquer

Lacquerfinishing

Lacquer is great for strong hold. A small amount is all that is required to finish and should be applied from an arms length distance to the entire style.
