Lena Dunham Short Straight Hairstyle - Visual Story

Description

Lena kept her hairstyle short and simple for the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards. Her layers all through the back and sides were pinched with a little product to achieve a wispy and textured effect. The jagged cut bangs are smoothed down to frame the top of the face and completes the over-all style perfectly.

Styling Steps

1. Part Hair in a Zigzag

step 1

Using the corner of your comb, create a straight part and then place your comb at the hairline and drag it through your hair, crisscrossing from left to right as you go. When you reach your crown, lift the comb up and then split the hair to each side, pulling it down to reveal your zigzag part.

2. Style Bangs Forward Using Wax

step 2

Apply a small amount of wax to your fingertips, and then using your fingers, rake through your bangs pinching the ends as you go to create a feathered, textured effect.

3. Wax the Back of Hair Out

step 3

Using wax and your fingers grab the mid-lengths of your hair and then drag it out and upwards for a full and messy result. Remember not to overdo the wax or your result will be a flat and greasy style.

4. Piece the Ends Using Wax

step 4

Apply a small amount of wax to your fingertips and then lightly piece and pinch the ends of your hair.

5. Apply Hairspray

step 5

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
