Description

Soft curls are added to the sides and back of this 'do to give this look movement and subtle shape. This formal 'do is easy to re-create with the right tools and needs product to tame fly-away hair. Regular trims will also help maintain a healthy look and feel by preventing split ends.

Carmen Electra has beautiful facial features and a strong bone structure, which is nicely highlighted her by her curled, vintage-style tresses here. Having an oval face shape, Carmen has a balanced shape to her face which allows her to pull off a variety of 'dos. Voluminous hairstyles that have lots of body and volume around the crown, jaw and neck area are ideal for her as they show off her face shape the best. This curly coiffure does just that for her, while the blunt cut ends give her hair a thicker appearance. She would look great in some side-swept bangs as it would give her broad forehead some coverage, however the grown out fringe is working well for her look here too. Carmen has a versatile hairstyle that can be worn up or down depending on the occasion and what look she is going for.

Carmen has a warm skin tone, blue eyes and naturally brunette hair. Here, she lightens up and goes for a platinum blonde tone to complete her vintage Hollywood look. While it's not the most natural looking shade of hair for her, this color brightens up her complexion and gives her an all-over warm glow- plus it suits her vixen persona. Carmen has left some panels of darker hair on the under layers of her 'do which tones the color down a bit. To return to a more natural looking blonde all over, she could add lowlights throughout using this color.

Tara Leigh Patrick, better known by her stage name Carmen Electra, is an American glamour model, actress, television personality, singer, and dancer.

Styling Steps

1. Apply Mousse

Placeholder articles

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

2. Part to the Left

Placeholder articles

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your left eye and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even left part. A side part is great for longer face shapes because it creates the illusion of width.

3. Use a Paddle Brush

Placeholder articles

A paddle brush is used for detangling the hair and can be used to smooth out straight hair when blow-drying or styling. It is a must have for every household.

4. Blow-dry Using a Paddle Brush

Placeholder articles

Working in sections starting from the back, place the paddle brush close to the roots and drag it through the strands slowly, taking care not to overheat your hair. Once dry, continue to a new section, completing the back, the sides and then the top section last of all.

5. Use Large Hot Rollers

Placeholder articles

A large hot roller is used to give your hair a larger curl and to add lots of body.

6. Apply Hot Rollers Vertically to the Side

Placeholder articles

Take a section of hair no wider than the diameter of the hot roller and comb it through to ensure there are no knots. Place the roller at the ends of the section of hair, being sure to smooth the ends under, and then twist the roller vertically, making sure to roll it backwards, along the hair shaft to the roots and secure it with a pin or clip. Keep the rollers in your hair until they cool.

7. Apply Hot Rollers Vertically in the Back

Placeholder articles

Take a section of hair from the nape no wider than the diameter of the hot roller and comb it through to ensure there are no knots. Place the roller at the ends of the section of hair, being sure to smooth the ends under, and then twist the roller vertically down the hair shaft to the roots and secure it with a pin or clip. Continue this step until the entire back section of your hair is completed. Keep the rollers in your hair until they cool.

8. Apply Hot Rollers on Top

Placeholder articles

Take a section of hair from the front of your head no wider than the diameter of the hot roller and comb it through to ensure there are no knots. Place the roller at the ends of the section of hair, being sure to smooth the ends under, and then twist the roller down the hair shaft until it meets the top of your head and then secure it in place with a pin or clip. Continue this step until a row of hot rollers has been applied along the very top of your head. Keep the rollers in your hair until they cool.

9. Scrunch Moulding Cream Through Hair with Fingers

Placeholder articles

Apply moulding cream to your fingertips and then tilt your head forward and scrunch your hair.

10. Style Bangs Up and to the Right Using Gel-wax

Placeholder articles

Apply a small amount of gel-wax to your fingers, then starting at your roots, apply the gel-wax as you drag your hair in an upwards, to the right, motion. Gel-wax will provide shine and soft hold. For maximum hold, gel is recommended.

11. Pin the Side Back

Placeholder articles

Take your section of hair and pull it tightly across to the opposite side and pin it securely into place.
