Victoria Hervey Long Wavy Grey Hairstyle with Side Swept Bangs and Blonde Highlights- Visual Story

Description

This is a classic hairstyle that is making its way back into fashion slowly but surely. Victoria Hervey is looking as gorgeous as ever! There is so much going on with this hairstyle. Firstly, her hair has been parted to one side which frames her face well. The bangs cover one side of her face which help to soften the edges of her face shape. Her hair has been lifted at the roots which create height and gives the illusion of more hair than she really has. Her layers have been blow-dried and help to show off her layers even more which look stunning. You are going to need to use a lot of hair product to keep this look in shape. It would be best if you cut your hair once every 4 weeks or so to ensure that your haircut stays in shape and that the color will stick nicely to your hair. If you are going to add the color as well, you will need to touch up your color once every 6 weeks or so to ensure that the color stays vibrant and that your roots do not show.

When it comes to your makeup application, you want to make sure that you do a formal/evening makeup application. A smokey eye is always a good starting point. You can add some false lashes to make your eyes pop more. Finish off with a pastel lip color as Victoria has done or you can go for something a bit bolder like a deep red. Do not forget to highlight and contour your face and neck area to ensure that you give off the illusion of a perfect oval face shape. Then you'll be ready for your night out on the town!

Styling Steps

1. Part to the Left

step 1

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your left eye and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even left part. A side part is great for longer face shapes because it creates the illusion of width.

2. Blow-dry and Flick Right Side

step 2

Take a section of your hair from your ear to your temple that is the same diameter as the brush. Place your brush on top of the hair starting at the roots and pull the hair slowly in an outwards direction with your blow-dryer following in front. Repeat this step and then once the roots are dry, drag the brush to the mid-lengths and then slowly turn the brush in an inwards direction, flicking it through the ends.

3. Blow-dry and Flick Left Side

step 3

Take a section of your hair from your ear to your temple that is the same diameter as the brush. Place your brush on top of the hair starting at the roots and pull the hair slowly in an outwards direction with your blow-dryer following in front. Repeat this step and then once the roots are dry, drag the brush to the mid-lengths and then slowly turn the brush in an inwards direction, flicking it through the ends.

4. Blow-dry the Back Under

step 4

To blow-dry under, start at the nape/back and place your brush under the section of hair close to the nape. With the dryer held up over the hair, pull the brush from the roots and continue to the mid length's, keeping the blow-dryer following over the top. Once you reach the ends, curve them under. Repeat this step until the section is completely dry.

5. Use a Blow-dryer to Kick Out the Back

step 5

Starting at the nape/back of the hair, place your brush on top of the section and blow-dryer down starting from the roots and using tension as you go. Next, place the blow-dryer underneath the hair and continue to blow-dry the ends out. Make sure to follow the brush with the blow-dryer in an outwards direction. If you like fuller flicks, hold the ends out and roll them up into the brush and apply the heat for longer.

6. Apply Hairspray

step 6

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
