Description

These locks are left out to fall over the shoulders showing off the soft waves dressed through the mid-lengths to ends for shape and softness. This low-fuss look is easy to re-create with the right tools and needs product for shine and hold. Regular trims every 4-6 weeks will help prevent split ends.

Katherine McNamara is looking beautiful here in a long length hairstyle. Katherine has an oblong face and to balance this shape, she has created the illusion of width by adding large curls around the cheeks and jaw. The loose waves add movement to her cut and also softens her face shape nicely. Ladies with an oblong face shape could follow Katherine's lead with an center part and sweeping bangs that help sculpt the face shape.

Katherine is a natural redhead and looks best in shades of copper, ginger and auburn hair. Here she is wearing a rich copper shade that compliments her cool, fair skin tone and her bright green eyes. Subtle blonde highlights give her locks extra sheen and shine for a glossy finish.

Katherine "Kat" Grace McNamara is an American actress. She is known for her role as Harper Munroe on the MTV comedy series Happyland, and for her lead role as Clary Fray on the Freeform fantasy series Shadowhunters.

Styling Steps

1. Apply Gel Spray

Gelspraytop

Evenly mist gel spray around the top and sides to create a soft hold style. Gel spray will hold well and will not look wet or weigh the hair down.

2. Use a Large Radial Brush

Brushlarge

A large radial brush is usually used on long straight hair types or to smooth out wavy or curly hair textures. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

3. Blow-dry Straight Back

Backstraight

Using your brush, blow-dry in small sections starting from the nape/back. Tilting your head forward, place the brush an inch below the roots to hold them taut and aim the dryer above the brush for a few seconds before continuing to the ends.

4. Blow-dry Straight on the Sides

Sidesstraight

Using your brush, blow-dry in small sections starting from the sides. Tilting your head forward, place the brush an inch below the roots to hold them taut and aim the dryer above the brush for a few seconds before continuing to the ends. Repeat this step on a new section directly above the dry one.

5. Blow-dry Bangs Forward to the Left

Bangsforwardleft

To blow-dry your bangs to the side, clip the back and side sections up, leaving just your bangs out. Place your brush beneath your bangs, holding your hair to the side and remembering to hold the tension between your hair and brush. With your blow-dryer on a low setting, apply heat by starting at the roots and make sure to stretch your hair out to the ends. Repeat until your hair is dry.

6. Blow-dry Bangs Forward to the Right

Bangsforwardrightbdry

When blow-drying your bangs to the side, section your hair up and clip your hair back to leave only your bangs out. Remember to make sure that your bangs are damp to make blow-drying more effective. Next, take your brush and place it underneath the hair and then blow-dry starting from the roots, adding tension to the hair as you go. Slowly pull your section down to the ends and continue until dry.

7. Use a Large Curling Iron

Curlingironlarge

A large curling iron is used to create large soft curls and can be used to add body.

8. Curl Mid-lengths and Ends with a Curling Iron

Midsidecurlingiron

Take a small section of hair and place the ends at the base of your curling iron barrel and then wrap the hair up around the barrel until you reach your mid-lengths. Hold the hair for 5 to 10 seconds and then release the hair by unwinding the strands backwards.

9. Tease Hair

Tease

Pick up a small selection of hair from your mid section no bigger than your tail comb. Place your comb at the roots and then comb up and down until the hair is standing up by itself. Continue to the crown and finish at the sides. Repeat this step if you require more volume.

10. Apply Smoothing Shine

Smoothingshinefinishing

Apply a very small amount of smoothing shine to the palms of your hands and then run it through the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. Be careful not to add any to the roots or a large amount to any section of the hair as smoothing shine can be very heavy on the hair, weighing it down and making it appear oily.

11. Apply Hairspray

Hairsprayfinishing

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
