Description

Subtle layers are cut around the back and sides of this wavy mane to enhance the bounce and volume all over. This look is best suited for those with naturally curly hair and is great to balance out a long face. Product is needed to pinch through the ends and regular trims is needed every 4-6 weeks.

Viola Davis looks youthful and radiant here in a wavy jaw length bob. Not only is this ‘do right on trend for this season but it is also an ideal cut for Viola’s oblong face shape. The side swept fringe works to camouflage her high forehead, and the graduated cut minimizes the appearance of a square jawline. The soft waves give her a cool, casual beachy finish.

Viola’s color is working nicely for her here as well. Her rich black hair shade looks fabulous with her warm, dark complexion and dark brown eyes. Her hair color has a lot of warmth to it which gives her complexion a nice glow. Ladies who also have dark eyes and a medium to dark skin tone will look good in this shade as well.

Viola Davis is an American actress who has won numerous awards for her work, including a Tony and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.

Styling Steps

1. Part to the Left

Partleft

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your left eye and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even left part. A side part is great for longer face shapes because it creates the illusion of width.

2. Blow-dry Straight Back

Backstraight

Using your brush, blow-dry in small sections starting from the nape/back. Tilting your head forward, place the brush an inch below the roots to hold them taut and aim the dryer above the brush for a few seconds before continuing to the ends.

3. Blow-dry Straight on the Sides

Sidesstraight

Using your brush, blow-dry in small sections starting from the sides. Tilting your head forward, place the brush an inch below the roots to hold them taut and aim the dryer above the brush for a few seconds before continuing to the ends. Repeat this step on a new section directly above the dry one.

4. Blow-dry the Crown

Crown

To blow-dry the crown/top sections, take a section of hair no bigger than the diameter of the brush and blow-dry the hair placing the brush under the section of hair. With your blow-dryer in front of the brush, follow the brush in an upwards direction at the roots and an outwards position at the ends for volume and softness. Continue until the section is dry.

5. Blow-dry Bangs Forward to the Right

Bangsforwardrightbdry

When blow-drying your bangs to the side, section your hair up and clip your hair back to leave only your bangs out. Remember to make sure that your bangs are damp to make blow-drying more effective. Next, take your brush and place it underneath the hair and then blow-dry starting from the roots, adding tension to the hair as you go. Slowly pull your section down to the ends and continue until dry.

6. Use a Curling Iron on the Front and Sides

Horizontalcurlingiron

Starting at the front, take a small section of hair and place the ends at the base of your curling iron barrel and then wrap the hair up around the barrel until you reach your roots. Hold the hair for 5 to 10 seconds and then release the hair by unwinding the strands backwards. Continue this step until all of the hair through your front and sides has been curled.

7. Apply Hairspray

Hairsprayfinishing

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
