Description

The sides and back of this chic 'do are clipper cut close to the head while the top is jagged cut to the side for a textured look and feel all over. The bangs are swept across the forehead and layer cut to soften the face and complete the over-all hairstyle well. Regular trims is needed every 4-6 weeks to maintain this shape.

Our model is sporting a sexy pixie cut here with fabulous results. This jagged cut ‘do is ideal for ladies like her who have strong facial features and bone structure. Our model has an oblong face and square jaw line which benefits from short styles like this one that camouflages her high forehead and brings the attention to her eyes and strong cheekbones. Her straight hair texture works well with this ‘do too as the layers add shape and body all over, along with oodles of volume at the crown. For fashion-forward ladies who like a stylish easy-to-do hairstyle, this pixie cut is an excellent option.

Our model has fair skin that has some pink undertones to it, and dark brown eyes. She is best suited to copper red, blonde and brown tones that warm up her skin and bring out her eyes. The duotone look seen here combines two of these colors for a fabulous finish--strawberry blonde on the top layers and dark copper on the bottom layers combine to create a gorgeous result. For an ultra fashion forward feel- the hair has been separated into horizontal sections and colored for a striking contrast. This is an ideal color technique for ladies who want to make a statement and who are bored with the traditional highlighting/coloring looks. Regular color touch ups are needed to tackle root re-growth and also keep these vibrant colors looking fresh.

Styling Steps

1. Apply Mousse

Mousse

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

2. Blow-dry the Crown

Crown

To blow-dry the crown/top sections, take a section of hair no bigger than the diameter of the brush and blow-dry the hair placing the brush under the section of hair. With your blow-dryer in front of the brush, follow the brush in an upwards direction at the roots and an outwards position at the ends for volume and softness. Continue until the section is dry.

3. Blow-dry Hair Under to the Left

Topstylingleft

Take a section of your hair no wider than the diameter of your brush. Place your brush under and at the roots of your section. Then with your blow-dryer above, drag the brush up through the mid-lengths and ends of the hair following with your blow-dryer and pulling the hair to the left. Repeat until your hair is completely dry.

4. Blow-dry Hair Under to the Right

Topstylingright

Take a section of your hair no wider than the diameter of your brush. Place your brush under and at the roots of your section. Then with your blow-dryer above, drag the brush up through the mid-lengths and ends of the hair following with your blow-dryer and pulling the hair to the right. Repeat until your hair is completely dry.

5. Finger Dry the Back with Blow-dryer

Fingerdry

Use your blow-dryer and your fingers to dry the back of your hair by moving your hair around to allow the heat to pass through it.

6. Blow-dry Bangs Forward to the Left

Bangsforwardleft

To blow-dry your bangs to the side, clip the back and side sections up, leaving just your bangs out. Place your brush beneath your bangs, holding your hair to the side and remembering to hold the tension between your hair and brush. With your blow-dryer on a low setting, apply heat by starting at the roots and make sure to stretch your hair out to the ends. Repeat until your hair is dry.

7. Part to the Right

Partright

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your right eye and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even right part. A side part is great for longer face shapes because it creates the illusion of width.

8. Use a Small Radial Brush

Brushsmall

A small radial brush is used on shorter hair types to add more body or in longer hair types to create curl. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

9. Wax Hair Down at the Back

Backdown

Apply some wax to your fingertips and then pull through the ends of your hair in a downward motion to achieve a sculptured look. Pinch clumps of hair in different directions for a messier result.

10. Style Bangs to the Left Using Wax

Bangsforwardleft

Apply wax to your fingertips then drag through your bangs, sweeping the hair to the left as you go. Pinching the ends will create soft texture.

11. Pinch Hair for Texture Using Wax

Toppinching

To finish the look, apply wax to your fingertips, making sure to smooth the wax over all of your fingers, then simply pinch the wax onto the ends of your hair, applying as much or as little as needed.
