Paula Abdul Medium Wavy Chestnut Brunette Hairstyle with Side Swept Bangs - Visual Story

Description

Paula wowed the crowds at the 2015 American Music Awards with her locks left out to sit on the shoulders showing off the soft waves all over that gives this style plenty of body and volume. The shape of this 'do is perfect to complement a long face and needs product for hold and shine.

Paula Abdul may be petite, but she knows how to grab the spotlight at any occasion. Here, she turns heads with a layered bob that is full of texture and movement. Paula has a square face shape that looks best in styles with some softness to them, like this one. The long shag cut and side-swept fringe is ideal for framing her face shape, plus it lets her natural hair texture do its thing. The length is just right for Paula too, who looks best in longer styles that have lots of layering and movement.

Paula has a warm complexion and brown eyes, both of which look best in warm golden brown and blonde shades. This hair color has a dark golden brown base with lots of caramel blonde highlights throughout. Overall, this color combo warms up Paula’s skin tone and brings out her brown eyes. It also gives her hair a glossy, healthy looking finish.

Paula Abdul is an American singer-songwriter, dancer, choreographer, actress and television personality.

Styling Steps

1. Apply Mousse

step 1

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

2. Use a Medium Radial Brush

step 2

A medium radial brush is used on medium to long hair types to smooth out wavy or curly hair textures or to add body to straight hair. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

3. Use a Blow-dryer to Kick Out the Back

step 3

Starting at the nape/back of the hair, place your brush on top of the section and blow-dryer down starting from the roots and using tension as you go. Next, place the blow-dryer underneath the hair and continue to blow-dry the ends out. Make sure to follow the brush with the blow-dryer in an outwards direction. If you like fuller flicks, hold the ends out and roll them up into the brush and apply the heat for longer.

4. Blow-dry Left Side Back

step 4

Take a section of your hair from your ear to your temple that is the same diameter as the brush. Place your brush on top of the hair starting at the roots and pull the hair slowly in a backward direction with your blow-dryer following in front. Be sure the section is dry and then repeat the step on a new section of hair directly behind.

5. Blow-dry Right Side Back

step 5

Take a section of your hair from your ear to your temple that is the same diameter as the brush. Place your brush on top of the hair starting at the roots and pull the hair slowly in a backward direction with your blow-dryer following in front. Be sure the section is dry and then repeat the step on a new section of hair directly behind.

6. Blow-dry Bangs to the Left

step 6

To blow-dry your bangs you will need to take your brush and firstly make sure the section is no wider than the diameter of the brush. Next, place your brush on top of your head and under your section. Using your blow-dryer on a medium setting, blow-dry your hair from the roots, slowly working your way to the ends. Make sure to keep the blow-dryer in front of the brush at all times. Continue this step until the bangs are completely dry.

7. Piece the Ends Using Wax

step 7

Apply a small amount of wax to your fingertips and then lightly piece and pinch the ends of your hair.

8. Apply Hairspray

step 8

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
