Straight Black Bob Haircut With Purple Highlights

Added: 10 Nov 2010
A medium-length black bob is a classic style that lends itself to many different looks. For example, you can wear it neat and tidy with no bangs or messy long layers. A long bob can also be worn with a side part or centre part and is excellent for an all-over style.

Our model is wearing a medium-length bob haircut with purple highlights. She has ash-coloured lipstick and eye shadow, creating a smokey eye look. The model looks amazing in this hairstyle and makeup combination. For this hair styling, this bob has been cut to fit into the 21st century, with its sharp angles finishing off with soft bangs for contrast. A splash of purple haze was used to add the "wow factor" and completed this look stylishly. The black bob is a versatile, modern and trendy hairstyle suited to most face shapes. The classic yet edgy look of this medium straight black bob haircut is perfect for women with fine to medium hair density who have medium to thick hair texture. It's a style that's easy to maintain and looks great in all seasons. It's a simple yet versatile cut that can be layered or left to grow out. There are many variations of the classic bob, including short, long and even a pixie cut. If you love having short hair and want to put it up in style, then this is your best option.

This short but sleek haircut is the perfect style for the busy professional. The cut is ideal for women with fine to medium-length hair and can be maintained with regular trims after 4 to 6 weeks to maintain the shape of your hairstyle. Get rid of the frizz, split ends and fly-aways with this new straight style. The cut gives you a more polished look as well as makes your hair easier to manage than ever before.

step 1

Apply a very small amount of smoothing shine to the palms of your hands and then run it through the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. Smoothing shine will work best on any hair type and style, but is especially good for smoothing down frizzy hair.

step 2

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your right eye and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even right part. A side part is great for longer face shapes because it creates the illusion of width.

step 3

A medium radial brush is used on medium to long hair types to smooth out wavy or curly hair textures or to add body to straight hair. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

step 4

To blow-dry under, start at the nape/back and place your brush under the section of hair close to the nape. With the dryer held up over the hair, pull the brush from the roots and continue to the mid length's, keeping the blow-dryer following over the top. Once you reach the ends, curve them under. Repeat this step until the section is completely dry.

step 5

To blow-dry the sides, take out a small section of hair from the front and clip the rest of the hair away. Next, place the brush under the section and then pull the brush and hair forward around your face (this curving motion creates body). Place the hair-dryer on top of the brush until you reach the ends and then turn the ends under. Repeat until dry.

step 6

Take a section of your hair no wider than the diameter of your brush. Place your brush under and at the roots of your section. Then with your blow-dryer above, drag the brush up through the mid-lengths and ends of the hair following with your blow-dryer and pulling the hair to the left. Repeat until your hair is completely dry.

step 7

To blow-dry your bangs to the side, clip the back and side sections up, leaving just your bangs out. Place your brush beneath your bangs, holding your hair to the side and remembering to hold the tension between your hair and brush. With your blow-dryer on a low setting, apply heat by starting at the roots and make sure to stretch your hair out to the ends. Repeat until your hair is dry.

step 8

When straightening your hair, first make sure that your hair is completely dry. Then, section your hair off starting from the back/nape using a comb. Straighten your hair starting from the roots and working your way down to the ends using your comb as your guide. Make sure not to leave the straightening iron in one spot for more than 3 seconds. step 9

Apply a very small amount of smoothing shine to the palms of your hands and then run it through the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. Be careful not to add any to the roots or a large amount to any section of the hair as smoothing shine can be very heavy on the hair, weighing it down and making it appear oily.

step 10

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
