Hi - I am 58 and I used to have fine hair but full looking, but now it is getting finer and thinner as I age. What cut is best for this type of hair. I have a square face and right now my hair is chin length but needs to be cut shorter because it looks thin and stringy. What kind of cut do I need to make it fuller? I used to get my hair textured a little to make it fuller but it is so fine now I don't think that kind of cut would be right. Am I correct in saying this? Also, I have a side bang not full across.
Hi, with a square face shape, any haircut that you get will still need to be one the softens around the sides of the face so not to enhance the "squareness". A short to medium hairstyle with layers will help give the illusion of thicker hair but this will depend on how the hair is styled. Keep the side bangs or a side part as this will help compliment your face. Blow-waving the hair to add volume or using hot rollers will boost fine hair, just remember when styling to use light products (e.g hairspray) so that you don't weigh your hair down. Hi, if you are answering the face shape quiz honestly and correctly (looking at your face in a mirror etc) then it will provide you with the right face shape. It works by taking into account all of your features and matching them to the most common face shapes. If you are getting multiple answers then it means that you are changing your answers every time you fill in the form. Hello, can you take a look at my picture? I'm not sure what kind of face I have oval or the other? I am a brunette and have now had my hairdresser to permanently color my hair (brown) to cover the gray. I have also added a few beige blonde highlights. My hair is in good condition and I get it trimmed or cut every 8 weeks. Question: My hairdresser says she cannot perm my hair because of the highlights. What is your opinion? Hi Jeannie, perming solution on top of the highlights and the permanent hair color will damage the hair, especially because the highlights are beige blonde. The peroxide used in them would be at least 40vol which is very high in PH, so then adding perming solution on top of that, which is a PH 15 (the highest), it will definitely break and snap your hair. Hi, I have taken a look at the two photos in your account and it looks as though your face shape leans towards both a round shape and a triangular shape. When your face shape closely resembles two face shapes, it's best to go with the shape that shares the most characteristics with your own. I am 55 years old and plan to color my hair some kind of a brown tone, not too dark or light. I have always had blonde hair and my last hairstylist made my hair so light my face is now pale in appearance. Is there a safe brown hair coloring that can bring out my facial features and not look so "suprising". Also, what highlights would you use? I suggest that when you visit your hairstylist next that you ask her to confirm your skin tone and let her know that are interested in trying a brown hair color and some complimentary highlights.
