While there are lots of upsides to naturally curly hair – locks with plenty of hair volume, curls that soften your face shape, add body to your strands and create a beautiful hair texture – there are downsides too. Sometimes (ok, most times) those gorgeous curls lack definition or shape and turn your locks into a bundle of frizz. There are some hair tips that you can try, however, that will help you to tame your curls and fight frizz. Find out more about them below…
Curl Taming, Frizz Fighting Hair Tips
Controlling frizz and taming your curls should start as soon as you finish washing your hair. Follow your shampoo and conditioner with a rinse of cool water and then apply a frizz reducing hair styling product to your damp hair before your hair begins to dry to try and eliminate the chance of frizz taking hold. It’s also a good idea to try and stretch washing your hair to only twice a week so that your hair oils get the chance to naturally keep your curls under control.
When it comes to styling, silicone based serums are a great option for curly tresses. Work some into the mid-lengths and the ends of your hair where your older hair strands are. The older the hair, the more prone to hair damage and frizz your locks will be, so apply some serum that will help smooth the damage, define the shape of your curl and eliminate fly-away strands and frizz.
Finish your styling by scrunching your curls into shape and then don’t touch your hair again. Excessively touching your hair once the curls have dried will ruin the shape and cause your strands to frizz.
These tips should help you to get your curls under control when washing, styling and caring for your hair. After that, it’s just a matter of making the most of your curls with a great hairstyle!
