Blanca Blanco Long Wavy Auburn Brunette Hairstyle

Added: 25 Oct 2012
Blanca Blanco wowed the red carpet with her take on the "big hair" trend. This ultra-voluminous loose style looks gorgeous and glam, plus it's easy to create. This is one look you'll want to try this season, whether it's for a Christmas cocktail party or your New Year's Eve bash. Only long layers are cut around the edges of this hairstyle to lighten the edges making it easy to blow-wave into shape adding plenty of body and volume making it a great look for those looking for an elegant style to compliment a long face. Product is needed for hold and shine.

Here's how to get the "big hair" look for your big night out:
- Start with sleek hair. Depending on your hair's natural texture, this may be easier said than done. If you have very curly hair, you're going to have to work harder to get those locks straight, but your silky, shiny hair at the end of it all will be well worth it.
- Once your hair is smooth, set it in large rollers. To avoid over-styling and stressing your locks out, use Velcro rollers rather than hot rollers.
- After your curls have been set, unroll your hair and start adding volume to the entire head by backcombing the roots. Use a fine-tooth comb to get the most body.
- After your hair has been teased, use a comb to smooth it away from the face, spraying it in place.

Hair Tips:
- Make sure you cover all of your teased areas by smoothing the visible hair over it, especially around the face.
- Use a strong but flexible hairspray to hold your volume but allow your hair to move.
- If you have very long or heavy hair, you may want to give your hair a helping hand and use discreet hair pins to keep your hair from falling flat over the course of the evening.

step 1

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

step 2

A large radial brush is usually used on long straight hair types or to smooth out wavy or curly hair textures. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

step 3

To blow-dry under, start at the nape/back and place your brush under the section of hair close to the nape. With the dryer held up over the hair, pull the brush from the roots and continue to the mid length's, keeping the blow-dryer following over the top. Once you reach the ends, curve them under. Repeat this step until the section is completely dry.

step 4

To blow-dry the sides, take out a small section of hair from the front and clip the rest of the hair away. Next, place the brush under the section and then pull the brush and hair forward around your face (this curving motion creates body). Place the hair-dryer on top of the brush until you reach the ends and then turn the ends under. Repeat until dry.

step 5

To blow-dry the crown/top sections, take a section of hair no bigger than the diameter of the brush and blow-dry the hair placing the brush under the section of hair. With your blow-dryer in front of the brush, follow the brush in an upwards direction at the roots and an outwards position at the ends for volume and softness. Continue until the section is dry.

step 6

To blow-dry the top section back you will need to take your brush and firstly make sure that the section is no wider than the diameter of the brush. Next, place your brush on top of your head and under your section. Using your blow-dryer on a medium setting, blow-dry your hair from the roots, slowly lifting your hair up and working your way to the ends. Make sure to keep the blow-dryer in front of the brush at all times. Continue this step until the top section is completely dry.

step 7

Pick up a small selection of hair from your mid section no bigger than your tail comb. Place your comb at the roots and then comb up and down until the hair is standing up by itself. Continue to the crown and finish at the sides. Repeat this step if you require more volume.

step 8

Apply a small amount of wax to your fingertips and then lightly piece and pinch the ends of your hair.

step 9

Apply a very small amount of smoothing shine to the palms of your hands and then run it through the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. Be careful not to add any to the roots or a large amount to any section of the hair as smoothing shine can be very heavy on the hair, weighing it down and making it appear oily.

step 10

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
