Name: Cree
Face Shape: oblong
Complexion: dark
Eye Color: brown
Hair Texture: medium
Hair Density: medium
Hair Elasticity: wavy/curly

Cree wrote to us and told us that she wanted to try "a new look". She has also told us that the hairstyle will be a weave (wig) and that her stylist will be able to duplicate the hairstyles. For this reason we haven't spoken specifically about styling. Cree's preference is for black hair, in the wavy and long styles. We have taken 3 of her favorites and then included some different looks and colors of our own that she could just as easily "put on".

1. Cree's Choice: Wavy Long

Cree hairstyles number 1

Suitable for:

Face Shapes: oval, oblong, square, diamond
Hair Texture: medium, coarse
Hair Density: medium, coarse

Styling:

Maintenance: high
Time: 20-30 mins
Techniques: blow-dry
Products: mousse, gel spray, wax, lacquer

Hair Consultant:

I think that Cree has got the shape right with this wispy long soft waved hairstyle. The layers through the back and sides kick out to provide the necessary body and width to balance out Cree's oblong face shape. The side swept bangs also help to shorten the vertical length somewhat but could prove a nuisance to Cree whenever she tilts her head forward. The length of the hairstyle being just below her shoulders is also good. Color wise, I don't mind the dark color but would like to see some soft subtle highlights a few shades lighter through the top area.

Verdict:

A very good choice of hairstyle. Cree should consider whether she is someone that gets annoyed with hair in her eyes due to the falling bangs before deciding on this look.

2. Cree's Choice: Wavy Long

Cree hairstyles number 2

Suitable for:

Face Shapes: oval, oblong, square, diamond
Hair Texture: medium, coarse
Hair Density: medium, coarse

Styling:

Maintenance: high
Time: 20-30 mins
Techniques: blow-dry
Products: mousse, gel spray, wax, hair spray

Hair Consultant:

Although this style is loaded with soft and sexy volume and gives body and width to Cree's long face shape, I personally don't recommend it. The reason for my view is based on the fact that this hairstyle almost completely hides and suffocates Cree's eyes, nose and face underneath it. I also think that "big hair" like this is a bit outdated. Unless Cree wanted a hairstyle to hide behind, I would recommend others.

Verdict:

Not one that I would recommend.

3. Cree's Choice: Wavy Long

Cree hairstyles number 3

Suitable for:

Face Shapes: oval, oblong, heart, diamond
Hair Texture: medium, thick
Hair Density: medium, dense

Styling:

Maintenance: high
Time: 20-30 mins
Techniques: Blow-dry
Products: mousse, gel spray, wax, hair spray

Hair Consultant:

I do like this hairstyle choice from Cree. The shape of the style with full flicked out sides and back adds width, which is perfect for Cree's oblong face shape. I also like the fact that this look doesn't hide Cree's face. The bangs are heavy but flicked away from the eyes and face. The length is okay but could get a little bit too heavy with a weave. The color is also good and most definitely needs the highlights throughout to emphasize texture.

Verdict:

A very good choice. I do like it.

4. Hair Consultant's Choice: Beyonce Knowles

Cree hairstyles number 4

Suitable for:

Face Shapes: oval, oblong, square, heart, diamond
Hair Texture: medium, thick
Hair Density: medium, dense

Styling:

Maintenance: high
Time: 30+ mins
Techniques: blow-dry
Products: mousse, gel spray, wax, smoothing shine, hair spray

I thought that some caramel and honey colored waves would be a big change for Cree. The open structure and curved lines that you get with curls always appears softer to the eye. I think that these types of curls or waves really suit Cree's facial features. This style also provides volume and body to the areas that Cree requires, which is the through the sides. I think that the caramel tones are soft and suit Cree's complexion as well as being a change from the usual dark brown and black that she is used to. The best part about this hairstyle being a weave is that she can literally try on almost any color!

Verdict:

This would be a good choice for Cree if she is looking for something soft and different. A change like this can make a person feel absolutely refreshed!

5. Hair Consultant's Choice: Naomi Campbell

Cree hairstyles number 5

Suitable for:

Face Shapes: oval, oblong, square, diamond
Hair Texture: thin, medium
Hair Density: sparse, medium

Styling:

Maintenance: medium
Time: 10-20 mins
Techniques: blow-dry
Products: mousse, gel spray, wax, hair spray

I would have to say that sticking to what Cree has asked for, this would have to be my pick. First of all, the shape is just right for Cree's longer face shape, and with the sides kicking out, it creates needed width and volume. The solid straight bangs also help to add width to the overall shape, creating the illusion of "half the height". I also like the dark blue/black color. It just shines and looks so healthy.

Verdict:

My favorite hairstyle if Cree is after a long 'do.

6. Hair Consultant's Choice: Kelly Rowland

Cree hairstyles number 6

Suitable for:

Face Shapes: oval, oblong, heart, diamond
Hair Texture: thin, medium
Hair Density: sparse, medium

Styling:

Maintenance: high
Time: 20-30 mins
Techniques: blow dry
Products: mousse, gel spray, wax, lacquer

For something sleek and elegant I couldn’t go past this chin length graduated bob cut. This hairstyle still works for Cree, mainly due to fact that the bangs shorten the overall shape to suit her oblong face shape. This sleek and light weight hairstyle with bold red slices really makes a big difference to Cree’s appearance. It’s guaranteed to turn heads and there is something about this cut and style that seems to work for me when I look at Cree’s photo. Ultimately, though, the choice comes down to whether she is game enough to try this style out.

Verdict:

I love this particular length, shape, and color on Cree.

7. Hair Consultant's Choice: Wendy Raquel Robinson

Cree hairstyles number 7

Suitable for:

Face Shapes: oval, oblong, square, heart, diamond
Hair Texture: thin, medium
Hair Density: sparse, medium

Styling:

Maintenance: high
Time: 20-30 mins
Techniques: blow dry
Products: smoothing shine, lacquer

In the medium length department, I really like this hairstyle on Cree. I like the way that the hair sits just on Cree’s shoulders adding width and softness to her chin and neck area. The side swept bangs also draw attention to Cree’s eyes, highlighting their shape and color. The mocha brown color also suits Cree’s complexion along with the soft caramel highlights which create extra texture and movement.

Verdict:

For something in the middle length range, this is a great fresh hairstyle for Cree.

8. Hair Consultant's Choice: Missy Elliott

Cree hairstyles number 8

Suitable for:

Face Shapes: oval, oblong, diamond, triangular
Hair Texture: medium, thick
Hair Density: medium, dense

Styling:

Maintenance: low
Time: 5-10 mins
Techniques: blow-dry
Products: mousse, gel, wax, hair spray

I just had to put this hairstyle in the consultation for Cree. I know that she wants long wavy dark hair, but take a look at this hairstyle! She looks absolutely fabulous. This fresh, modern look adds width through the sides along with the side swept bangs that again work to shorten Cree's face shape. The 3 tone color of black, mocha brown and copper highlights all suit Cree's eye color and complexion to a tee. It's a big change and definitely daring, but wow! How SEXY does she look?

Verdict:

This is my favorite pick being totally objective. If Cree is in the go-all-the-way frame of mind then she just can't go past this one! My advice - she shouldn't dismiss it!
