The most realistic virtual hairstyler - WallStreet Journal & Vogue Magazine

We all want our hair to look the best at all times. When we look around we see others with gorgeous hair and we dream that we can have the same. What we don't always realise is that all great hairstyles take time and that there aren't many people in the world that just wake up with that perfect look.

Styling is a major part of achieving the perfect look, but it also depends a lot on the products that we use. It is important to use the right products to suit our hair in order to help make the styling process easier, give the hair the right nutrients it needs and to keep the style looking great all day.

Working with a variety of clients over the years, I have found that the clients that struggle the most with styling are the ones that have fine, limp hair. The reason for this is simple - not being educated on what products to use for their hair type.

Just because the hair is coloured doesn't mean that all colour shampoo and conditioners are suitable. They can often be too heavy for fine hair, leaving it weighed down and oily. The same goes for moisturising shampoos and conditioners and intense treatments, which can have an even heavier affect on the hair. Luckily, there is a range of product solutions and we were able to road test one such solution - "The Volume Collection" from Mark Hill, a special formula which is designed to help strengthen the hair from deep within the roots to develop a natural lift.

Volumizing Cleansing Shampoo

Mark Hill has designed this great shampoo which has special ingredients that help to maximise fullness and body through the hair. The shampoo is infused with pure extracts of bamboo fern, wheat proteins and seasilk to strengthen the hair shaft.

I found that the Volumizing Shampoo lathered up very easily and cleansed my hair well with just one shampoo and would recommend that those with an oily scalp do at least two shampoos every 2nd or 3rd wash to guarantee that all the oil gets lifted. This should also keep your hair cleaner for longer in between washes. I also found that the shampoo rinsed out very easily.

5 stars.

Volumizing Moisturizing Conditioner

Also infused with bamboo fern, wheat proteins and seasilk, the Volumizing Moisturizing Conditioner is a great rejuvenating conditioner designed to create volume and bounce.

The conditioner had a very creamy texture and left my hair feeling very soft. It also rinsed out very well and made it easy to comb my hair. Once my hair was dry, it left my hair feeling very soft and with a much fuller feel.

5 stars.

Root Volumizing Mist

The mist is a great idea for anyone wanting to inject more body and lift into their hairstyle and has a strong hold without a hard finish.

I easily applied the mist to my roots after towel drying my hair and blow-dried my hair as normal, adding body as I went. The mist added a lot of fullness and lift at my roots and I would recommend also trying this product with velcro rollers to create a hairstyle with plenty of life. The product was great for styling and taming my fine hair and the volume I received was still evident in my hair the next day. My hair did feel a little drier than usual after first using the product, but was back to feeling soft again the next day.

4 stars.

For those with fine hair, "The Volume Collection" from Mark Hill is a great range of products to try and can be found in stores. We recommend using these products to help you re-create the following styles from TheHairStyler.com's library.
