Italia Ricci Medium Straight Brunette Hairstyle

Added: 09 May 2017
Sweet and sophisticated is the main idea for this 'do. These thick locks are smoothed down with an off-center part making this a great casual hairstyle to complement a heart shaped face. Only a small amount of product is needed to tame fly-away hair and regular trims every 4-6 weeks will help prevent split ends.

Italia Ricci is looking gorgeous here in a layered shoulder length bob. Italia has a heart shaped face with a wide jawbone and cheek area, and a dainty chin. For this reason, lots of layering and smooth shaping is needed to soften up her features, which we can see here. This also helps to add movement and style to her thick, straight locks that can get weighed down easily without them. Italia's thick locks also benefit from blow waving the roots for volume, and the ends which gives her tresses a soft and sleek finish.

As for her color, Italia chooses to go for a golden coffee tone base that is ideal for her warm complexion and dark eyes. She is perfectly suited to hair colors that have a yellow or gold base to them just like this medium brunette shade that has subtle golden blonde highlights throughout the front. The all-over color is warm and vibrant and leaves her hair with a silky, shiny finish.

step 1

Hold the gel spray no closer than 3 inches from your hair and then evenly mist the gel spray into the roots to create a stronger hold style. Gel spray will hold well and will not look wet or weigh the hair down. Using your gel spray in this fashion will create added hold and a longer lasting style.

step 2

Using a blow-dryer on a low heat setting, use the palm of your hand in slow circular movements to dry off the hair and to create a disorganized effect.

step 3

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your right eye and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even right part. A side part is great for longer face shapes because it creates the illusion of width.

step 4

A medium radial brush is used on medium to long hair types to smooth out wavy or curly hair textures or to add body to straight hair. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

step 5

To blow-dry under, start at the nape/back and place your brush under the section of hair close to the nape. With the dryer held up over the hair, pull the brush from the roots and continue to the mid length's, keeping the blow-dryer following over the top. Once you reach the ends, curve them under. Repeat this step until the section is completely dry.

step 6

To blow-dry the sides, take out a small section of hair from the front and clip the rest of the hair away. Next, place the brush under the section and then pull the brush and hair forward around your face (this curving motion creates body). Place the hair-dryer on top of the brush until you reach the ends and then turn the ends under. Repeat until dry.

step 7

To blow-dry the crown/top sections, take a section of hair no bigger than the diameter of the brush and blow-dry the hair placing the brush under the section of hair. With your blow-dryer in front of the brush, follow the brush in an upwards direction at the roots and an outwards position at the ends for volume and softness. Continue until the section is dry.

step 8

Using a small amount of moulding cream, work it through the mid-lengths and ends in a downward motion. For added texture, pinch the ends as you go sparingly.
