Taking A Stand - Show Your Hair Who's Boss

Too much product can make your style hard to manage

Just enough product will leave you with easy to style locks
How much product is too much product?

We often wonder why hairdressers put a certain amount of product in our hair when styling. It always seems to only be a little bit here and a little bit there, but sure enough your hair always comes out looking beautiful, feeling silky smooth and making you feel like a new person.

Naturally, you buy the product and you take it home and then a few days later try to do the same style as the hairdresser. The back of the product always says to use only a very small amount, like the size of a small coin, and you think, no, no that's not enough.

There is a good reason why hairdressers only use a small amount of product in your hair and here are some quick tips on why a small amount of product should go a long way.

Firstly, to create a worthy style you will generally need to use moisturizer (always a must) and either mousse, wax, smoothing shine or plenty of other hair styling products, which means that if you use too much product for each you are probably going to find yourself with a big greasy style before you've even finished creating your 'do. A small amount of styling product put through wet hair will of course go through most of your hair with ease and you will find that you end up with a better style for much longer.

Using too much product can also cause product build up, which will unfortunately leave you with something that look likes a healthy amount of dandruff in your hair – which is not a nice look.

Lastly, if you’re going to spend a fortune on good quality products for your hair then the last thing you want to do is to waste it all in one session of styling.

So, to keep that great salon look and show your hair who's boss, always ask your hair stylist what you should do when styling your hair at home and always follow the product manufacturers instructions.
