Selena Gomez Long Straight Hairstyle

Added: 03 Mar 2017
These dark tresses are blow-waved beautifully then worn over the shoulders for a lush and sexy look and feel. The middle part makes this hairstyle perfect to frame a round face and needs product for gloss and hold. Regular trims will help prevent split ends.

Selena Gomez goes for a sleek and sophisticated look here with this long, glossy hairstyle. We are used to seeing Selena in long hairstyles that show off her thick tresses, like this one. This 'do instantly gives her a mature, professional look that works well with her natural hair texture and pretty facial features. Selena has a heart-shaped face and small eyes which is ideal for this haircut as all the focus is brought to her face. It also works well with her widow's peak hairline that can be difficult to wear bangs with. Having them grown out allows for easy styling and better maintenance.

Selena has a tanned skin tone and naturally dark hair and eyes, meaning she suits dark hair colors the best. Here she goes for a rich glossy espresso brown hair color that looks great with her complexion and green eyes (which are the result of contact lenses here). This color would look just as good with her naturally dark eye color as well. No highlights are needed here as this rich brown color gives her locks a healthy, shiny finish.

step 1

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

step 2

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your nose and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even middle part. A middle part is a great way to make small, round face shapes appear longer and thinner.

step 3

A large radial brush is usually used on long straight hair types or to smooth out wavy or curly hair textures. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

step 4

Using your brush, blow-dry in small sections starting from the sides. Tilting your head forward, place the brush an inch below the roots to hold them taut and aim the dryer above the brush for a few seconds before continuing to the ends. Repeat this step on a new section directly above the dry one.

step 5

To blow-dry under, start at the nape/back and place your brush under the section of hair close to the nape. With the dryer held up over the hair, pull the brush from the roots and continue to the mid length's, keeping the blow-dryer following over the top. Once you reach the ends, curve them under. Repeat this step until the section is completely dry.

step 6

Apply a very small amount of smoothing shine to the palms of your hands and then run it through the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. Be careful not to add any to the roots or a large amount to any section of the hair as smoothing shine can be very heavy on the hair, weighing it down and making it appear oily.

step 7

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
