Your Personal Hair Consultation

This Hair consultation is based on your personal preferences.

When you are deciding on a new hairstyle there are lots of important factors to consider. A golden rule is this: hairstyles are predominately about shape and geometry. They should minimize non-pleasing attributes while promoting and complimenting pleasing ones. After that is achieved, the hairstyle is brought to life with texture and colors.

A good hairstylist will know instinctively what hairstyle will suit you best, but it's also good for you to understand the suitability of hairstyles too. That way you'll learn what works for you and what doesn't, and you'll be able to communicate your ideas better with your stylist.

Current Hairstyle: Wavy Medium | New Hairstyle: Straight Medium

A shorter smoother style will result in a sleeker, more professional look all over. To minimize waves in your hair, layers should be kept longer and heavier. Also avoid razor-cutting as this will only encourage the hair to go wavier. You will need to blow-dry your hair smooth using flat brushes and styling aids to help maintain its hold. But even after using styling aids, when your hair takes in any moisture (such as steam, rain or even perspiration), it will go back to being wavy. Ceramic straightening irons will also help get the hair straighter and will flatten the cuticle, preventing it from absorbing moisture. Unfortunately, however, your hair will always absorb some moisture and will inevitably return back to its wavy state.

An alternative is chemical straightening. This can be quite successful when done correctly, but should only be carried out by a qualified professional. Chemical straightening is permanent, meaning that your hair should remain straight forever and only your regrowth need be treated again. In some cases, however, strong natural wavy hair has been known to go back to its original texture. Proper home hair care advice is essential and should be provided to you by your hairstylist.

You then have the option of printing, emailing, or saving your favorites to your computer or posting your makeovers to facebook to show to your hairstylist and/or family and friends.

Finding a style that suits your face shape and attributes is essential, and when choosing a new hairstyle you must keep in mind the styles that will work with your lifestyle, your specific time maintenance factors, and your styling ability. This consultation will find the best styles that satisfy all of these important factors.

Medium Texture Hair

Most of the hairstyles in TheHairStyler.com library will suit your hair texture. With medium texture hair you probably won't need to worry about changing your hair's texture too much. If you would like less hair, you should take a look at razor-cut styles. On the other hand, if you would like to thicken your hair, consider blunt cutting and minimum graduation cuts. Finding a style that will work with your hair texture is just as important as finding a style to suit your face shape.

Medium Density Hair

You're lucky! From a hairstyling point of view, this means that you should always be able to change your hairstyle by adjusting the weight distribution of your hair. In plain English: you can thin out your hair by means of razor-cutting, slicing, etc; or you can make it appear thicker by growing certain layers longer. Finding a style that will work with your hair texture is just as important as finding a style to suit your face shape.

Complexion: Fair-Cool

Your complexion coloring is cool. This means that you will look better with hair colors that are cool in overtone because this is keeping in line with what nature intended for you. There are of course some exceptions to this rule where cool and warm colors can be used together in various techniques for contrast or specific purposes, but this should be left to the care of highly trained hair colorists only. Cool colors are made mostly of green, blue, and violet. Hair colors that are cool that are made up of combinations of these tones include: ash brown (green), arctic blonde (blue) and violet (blue and red).

Skin Tone Suitability: Cool - Hair Color Overtone: Warm

You have selected ultra light golden blonde as your current hair color. This color has a warm overtone making it the incorrect choice for your cool complexion. A warm overtone can result in the color making your complexion appear washed out, pale, or even sickly. Make up can help camouflage these bad effects but only to a certain degree. As a rule, you should stick to your complementary colors when choosing any hair color change. In your case, you need to stick to the cooler tones, as this will minimize any hair color mistakes and disappointments. When trying on a new color from the THS color chart, you will see a warm or cool symbol next to the color name indicating whether the color is a warm (red) or a cool (blue) overtone. The color chart will help make your new hair color choice much easier.

If you disagree with this result, it could indicate that an error was made in your selection about your complexion or your current (not natural) hair color.

Eye Color

While eye color only plays a complementary role when choosing the most suitable hair color for you, a hair color that features the same tones or contrasts with your eyes can enhance your hair color.

Height: Short/Average

Although your height isn't really that important, it should still be considered when choosing a new hairstyle. For shorter people wishing to appear a little taller, look at hairstyles that create more height on top- but make sure they will still balance the proportions of your face shape. The ideal height for females is 5'4" - 5'5" or about eight heads tall. For men it's 5'9" - 6'1".

Average Build

Just as there is an ideal face shape, there are also ideal proportions for the body. Being in the middle, or medium size, is great because you can have large or small looking hairstyles.

Short/Medium Neck

If you have a short neck and wish to make it appear longer, then consider cutting your hair shorter at the nape. Unless certain face shapes really require it, avoid hairstyles that cover your neck completely. This consultation will help you find the right style for the length of your neck and face shape.
