Up-dos are always the classiest hairstyles on the red carpet, and are a must have if you are attending a formal occasion. If you have a special event coming up on your calendar like a chic fall wedding, you’ll definitely be in need of some up-do ideas. To make it easy, we’ve put together some of the latest up-dos that have graced the red carpet recently and would be perfect to wear to that special event this month—check ‘em out!
Julianne Moore is looking as svelte as ever in this sleek low-do. This hairstyle is perfect for ladies who want to pull off a more demure look that is high on shine and style. This low-do can be created by first blow-drying the hair smooth and then using a shine spray to create a high-gloss finish. The front portion of the hair is parted on the side while the hair on the top is swept backwards. The hair is then gathered at the nape of the neck and secured by twisting sections of hair and pinning them to the head. This hairstyle would also look gorgeous with a side-swept fringe as well. Best suited for: Oval, oblong, square, and diamond shaped faces.
For something a little more voluminous and fun, check out Joely Fisher’s ‘do here. This hairstyle is perfect for women with curly or wavy hair that want to show off their natural texture. To get this look, first backcomb the roots of your curly hair to create lift at the crown. Then start to secure the hair on top by pulling sections back and then pinning them in place. Joely has left some long tendrils down to frame the face but this hairstyle would also look good with the entire fringe area pulled back. Best suited for round, oval, heart, and triangular shaped faces.
For a chic up-do idea, copy Bailee Madison’s cute ballerina bun. This hairstyle would look fabulous at a cocktail party or other swanky evening event. Create this look by first pulling your hair back into a high ponytail and then using a sock ring or bun donut to add width around the base. Pull the hair through the donut or sock ring, letting it cover the donut as you sweep it around to create your big bun, then pin it into place. For an added style bonus, try sticking in a flower or jewelled hair accessory. Best suited for round, oval, heart, and triangular shaped faces.
And finally, here is another “low-do” idea—the fishtail braid. Beth Ostrosky Stern looks gorgeous here in a platinum blonde side braid with a curled tendril hanging out for good measure. The fishtail braid is a great choice for elegant events as it looks less juvenile than a regular braid, so give this one a try next time you want something a bit fancier. To create this look, all you need to do is sweep the hair to one side of the neck and start braiding. Finish it off with a shine spray for best results. This hairstyle will suit any face shape too!
