Jen Lilley Long Wavy Formal Hairstyle

Added: 23rd April 2015
Jen Lilley uses a side part that starts almost at the temple to create this gorgeous ‘do. This is the perfect hairstyle for women who want a more formal look that keeps the front section of the hair off the face.

This ‘do can be created by taking the front section of hair starting at the deep side part, and twisting or braiding it over to the other side. The rest of Jen’s hair is left down with tight waves throughout. For a more formal look, sweep all the hair back by twisting sections of the hair and secure into a low chignon or twist.

Gorgeous waves are dressed through the sides and back of these brunette tresses giving the over-all style plenty of movement and bounce. The top is pinned back to give this style height making this a great hairstyle to frame a round face. Product is needed for shine and hold.

1 . Apply Mousse

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

2 . Use a Blow-dryer and Fingers to Dry Your Hair Off

Using your blow-dryer, dry your hair using your fingers, separating the hair and allowing it to dry at the roots first then the mid lengths and then the ends. Making sure the roots are dry first will ensure that your hairstyle does not fall flat.

3 . Use a Large Curling Iron

A large curling iron is used to create large soft curls and can be used to add body.

4 . Curl Mid-lengths and Ends with a Curling Iron

Take a small section of hair and place the ends at the base of your curling iron barrel and then wrap the hair up around the barrel until you reach your mid-lengths. Hold the hair for 5 to 10 seconds and then release the hair by unwinding the strands backwards.

5 . Tease Hair

Pick up a small selection of hair from your mid section no bigger than your tail comb. Place your comb at the roots and then comb up and down until the hair is standing up by itself. Continue to the crown and finish at the sides. Repeat this step if you require more volume.

6 . Pin Hair

Once your hairstyle is complete, hold your hair into place and then pin your hair into your desired direction.

7 . Piece the Ends Using Wax

Apply a small amount of wax to your fingertips and then lightly piece and pinch the ends of your hair.

8 . Apply Hairspray

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
