Kelly Bensimon Long Straight Dark Blonde Hairstyle with Blonde Highlights

Added: 23 Apr 2017
These locks are left to fall past the shoulders showing off the soft waves dressed through the mid-lengths to ends for shape and softness. This low-fuss look is easy to re-create with the right tools and needs product for shine and hold. Regular trims every 4-6 weeks will help prevent split ends.

Kelly Bensimon is looking beautiful here in a long layered hairstyle that is ideal for her face shape and hair type. Kelly has an oblong shaped face and to balance this shape, she has created the illusion of width by adding volume through the lengths and ends throughout. By teasing her hair all over, she adds fullness to her locks which then balances out the length in her face. The loose curls at the ends add movement to her cut and also softens her face shape nicely. Ladies with an oblong face shape could follow Kelly’s lead with a center part and long face-framing layers that add bounce and fullness to their look.

Kelly Bensimon has natural brunette hair and looks best in shades of vibrant brunette and blonde. Here she is wearing a rich golden brown base that compliments her warm, fair skin tone and her blue eyes. Her root area is left darker while the lengths and ends are lightened to a golden blonde for a beach babe look.

Kelly Killoren Bensimon is an American author, socialite and former editor of Elle Accessories and a former model.

step 1

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

step 2

Using the corner of your comb, create a straight part and then place your comb at the hairline and drag it through your hair, crisscrossing from left to right as you go. When you reach your crown, lift the comb up and then split the hair to each side, pulling it down to reveal your zigzag part.

step 3

Using a blow-dryer on a low heat setting, use the palm of your hand in slow circular movements to dry off the hair and to create a disorganized effect.

step 4

To blow-dry under, start at the nape/back and place your brush under the section of hair close to the nape. With the dryer held up over the hair, pull the brush from the roots and continue to the mid length's, keeping the blow-dryer following over the top. Once you reach the ends, curve them under. Repeat this step until the section is completely dry.

step 5

To blow-dry the sides, take out a small section of hair from the front and clip the rest of the hair away. Next, place the brush under the section and then pull the brush and hair forward around your face (this curving motion creates body). Place the hair-dryer on top of the brush until you reach the ends and then turn the ends under. Repeat until dry.

step 6

To blow-dry the crown/top sections, take a section of hair no bigger than the diameter of the brush and blow-dry the hair placing the brush under the section of hair. With your blow-dryer in front of the brush, follow the brush in an upwards direction at the roots and an outwards position at the ends for volume and softness. Continue until the section is dry.

step 7

Take a section of hair no wider than the diameter of the velcro roller and comb it through to ensure there are no knots. Place the roller at the ends of the section of hair, being sure to smooth the ends under, and then twist the roller down the hair shaft to the roots. Continue applying the velcro rollers all the way through the entire hair for a full volume finish throughout the sides. Keep the rollers in your hair for approximately 20 minutes.

step 8

Apply moulding cream to your fingertips and then tilt your head forward and scrunch your hair.

step 9

Apply a very small amount of smoothing shine to the palms of your hands and then run it through the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. Be careful not to add any to the roots or a large amount to any section of the hair as smoothing shine can be very heavy on the hair, weighing it down and making it appear oily.

step 10

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
