Description

This is a great cut for those with naturally curly hair looking for a style that's easy to maintain with plenty of attitude and spunk. The Back: has been cut to one length to create a bob shape at the nape and has also been layered to the top to give plenty of body and bounce. The Sides: have been cut to the same length as the back to keep a straight edge for the full layers cut through to the top. This style will be easy to maintain with regular trims.

Styling Steps

1. Apply Moisturizer

Moisturizer

Apply a small amount of hair moisturizer to the palm of your hand and distribute it evenly through the mid-lengths and the ends. Moisturizer will help your hair to maintain good condition and protect your strands from heat as you style.

2. Apply Sculpture Lotion

Sculpturelotion

Apply sculpture lotion to the palm of the hand and then place it evenly throughout the hair. Sculpture lotion can be used as an alternative to mousse for messy hair, as a styling aid when blow-drying for volume, and for a stronger hold.

3. Use a Blow-dryer and a Diffuser to Dry Curls

Diffuseshortcurls

Using your diffuser, gently scrunch your hair dry in a rotating direction. Make sure the blow-dryer speed is on low and try not to completely dry the hair off as leaving a little bit of moisture will ensure that your curls do not frizz.

4. Style the Back Out Using Gel-wax

Backout

Using gel-wax and your fingers grab the mid-lengths of your hair and then drag it out and upwards for a soft and shiny result. For maximum hold the use of gel is recommended.

5. Style Sides Out Using Gel-wax

Sidesout

Pinch and drag your hair in an upwards motion using gel-wax. Using gel-wax will give luster and shine with soft texture.

6. Lift Roots Using Gel-wax

Toplifting

Apply some gel-wax to your fingertips and then rub it gently into your roots while lifting your strands. Using gel-wax in this manner will add shine and texture.

7. Gel-wax and Pinch Hair for Texture

Toppinching

Apply gel-wax to your fingertips and then pinch small clumps of hair in an up and forward motion. For a wetter look, use more gel-wax.

8. Apply Smoothing Shine

Smoothingshinefinishing

Apply a very small amount of smoothing shine to the palms of your hands and then run it through the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. Be careful not to add any to the roots or a large amount to any section of the hair as smoothing shine can be very heavy on the hair, weighing it down and making it appear oily.

9. Apply Hairspray

Hairsprayfinishing

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
