Daniel Day-Lewis |
With her sassy hairdo draped over one shoulder, Marion Cotillard looked like a winner even before the Oscars started. Her full-bodied style was layered through the mid lengths and ends to create volume and movement. This was a seductive look for the French actress, and we'll see much more of her in the future. |
Tilda Swinton's hair was certainly eye catching. Cut short through the back and layered up to the sides and top, I bet it required no effort at all. Combined with this striking color, Tilda's style is a great choice for those with fine to medium hair. Doesn't she make it seem easy: just slip on a dress, run your fingers through your hair, arrive at the Oscars and win one for the top shelf? Well done Tilda! |

The "best" in his Best Actor Oscar might not refer to everything about Daniel Day-Lewis (best hair, best earrings, best style), but all eyes were still trained on him as he made his way to the stage to collect his award. Daniel's shaggy hair was only trimmed to fall over his ears and show off his layers through the sides and back-all creating a definite sense of movement and bounce. |

Diablo Cody |
The winner of the Best Actor in a Supporting Role had a grin from ear to ear no one could wipe off (rightfully so, I think). He arrived in a suave suit with a tamed hairdo swept over to one side for a classy finish. Maybe he was out to prove that he's not as stylistically challenged as the character he played in No Country for Old Men. He left with an Oscar to complete his look, and who could really ask for more? |
It's not easy to feel glamorous when you're seven months pregnant, but Cate certainly looked glamorous.Even though her hairstyle was casual (with half of it pulled away from her face and the rest left to tickle her shoulders), and even though-on anyone else-we might ask for a bit more effort, we've let her off the hook. She's got more important things to worry about, and at the end of the day, she looked great!
This award winning writer was all smiles, and who could blame her? With tattoos on her shoulder and an interesting history of exotic dancing, Diablo proves that Hollywood isn't as conservative as it sometimes seems. Her hair was glossed and glammed-up into a sharp bob with jagged-cut bangs that looked stunning. But I'm not sure about that dress (is it just me, or does it look a bit Flintstones?). |

Colin Farrell |
Ellen's adorable: the star of a great film (Juno), she's gorgeous, and she's got such a solid future in the movies. But, she needs to sack her stylist. We've seen her at a few occasions now where her hair is always the same: loose curls framing the face; half up, half down. It looks great, but when you're moving in the circles she is, a bit of a styling makeover every so often is absolutely necessary.
Heidi Klum walked the red-carpet like she owned it, and that's fair enough because she was more captivating than anyone. Her elegant red dress and hair pulled up in a simple-yet sensational-bun guaranteed she turned heads. It's too bad the Academy doesn't give out awards for Best Dressed.
There's a good chance many people thought the same as I when Colin walked the red-carpet: "Does he know he's going to the Oscars?" A trim? A shave? "Forget it" (was probably what he was thinking). He went for a shaggy hairdo, with ends textured all over and uniform cut for balance. This wouldn't have taken Colin any time at all to style, so I guess it's an easy maintenance hairdo to say the least. |

Brad Bird |
Katherine Heigl looked like she was channelling the best of the 1940s with her sexy hairstyle. The length is trimmed to sit above her shoulders with layers cut through the sides and back to create bounce and body in her mid lengths and ends. Katherine looked flawless on the night, with no one else coming close to looking so intriguing.

She walked the red-carpet with such grace and dignity that everyone couldn't help turning Kelly's way. With her flowing gown and sensational smile, her wavy hairdo completed her style beautifully. Her hair wasn't drowned in hairspray or overflowing with bobby pins: it was just perfect. |
Brad was clearly thinking "casual" when grooming for tonight's event. But that's not to say he didn't look great. The winner of the Animated Feature Film Oscar had a style that was cropped short at the back and sides and blended into the top, which was also layered to give his look a rough finish. Brad's hairdo is a great choice for guys like himself who are thinning, but don't want the buzz cut look. |

Renée Zellweger |
This was a sexy upstyle for Nancy (who always looks great). Her hairstyle was slicked back and pulled to one side to achieve an asymmetrical shape that complimented her face wonderfully. Her sassy smile and stunning hairdo were perfect for this occasion-so perfect, in fact, maybe she should have given her stylist's number to some others who didn't look quite so glamorous. |
Penélope Cruz had half her lustrous locks pinned up through the front and top, with the back left to hang down low for a sexy finish. The top was teased and pulled away from her face to add height to her style, and this suited her petite face beautifully. But just because it suited her, doesn't mean it was perfect. Perhaps a little more effort would have made her look more "Oscars" (and less like she was just going to dinner with close friends). |
Renée Zellweger should've won an Oscar just for looking gorgeous. Her hairstyle certainly complimented her over all look. The back is cut short to the nape of her neck, with soft, sliced layers through the sides and back to create movement and elegance. There's no doubt her bangs were an important part of this look as they softened her face and added a nice flirty touch to her image. |

Cameron Diaz |
Suzie Templeton looked amazing not only in her red hot dress, but also with her sassy hairdo-both of which had all the cameras clicking. Her loose waves draped her shoulders beautifully, and her layers (through the front) shaped her face perfectly. This is an elegant hairstyle that suited the event and really worked well to soften her facial features. |
| Tamika Ray's hair had VOLUME, VOLUME, VOLUME; she dazzled the paparazzi and the red-carpet crowd. Her length and layers were cut a uniform length all over to achieve a balanced look. Her hair was anything but smooth and silky, yet definitely stunning. This style suited her face, giving her height, and looks best on those who have naturally tight curly hair.
She's certainly gorgeous, but you'd be forgiven for thinking Cameron couldn't get over her days starring in Charlie's Angels. Why? It's those flared bangs she's wearing (again). This pulled-back hairdo with side-parted bangs left out to frame her face looks great if you're going to the beach, but I think the Academy Awards calls for a bit more effort. At least her dress was eye catching. |
