Medium Curly Formal Hairstyle

Added: 9th May 2017
Bouncy corkscrew curls are added to the these locks to give this casual hairstyle volume and movement. The top is parted on the side and with the body and volume, this 'do is great to frame a long or angular face. Product is needed for hold and shine and regular trims will help prevent split ends.

Our model looks lovely here with a curly shoulder length hairstyle with extra va-va-voom! This 'do has been styled with large curls that add body and shine. This is ideal for her face shape, which is a triangular shape, as it benefits from the added fullness around the face and chin area in particular. Our model has a high forehead with a round hairline which is ideal for wearing a side part and grown out fringe or side-swept fringe, as seen here. Our model has teased the roots of her hair and bangs for a tousled, sexy finish.

Our model has a warm complexion with yellow undertones and light amber eyes. This makes her well suited to gold and yellow blonde tones the best. Here, she goes with a warm, light golden blonde base color and sun-kissed highlights. This color works well for her and lightens up her complexion, plus it makes her amber eye color the center of attention. This is a great choice for our model's coloring and it gives her locks a healthy, shiny finish.

Gelsprayroots
1 . Apply Gel Spray to Roots

Hold the gel spray no closer than 3 inches from your hair and then evenly mist the gel spray into the roots to create a stronger hold style. Gel spray will hold well and will not look wet or weigh the hair down. Using your gel spray in this fashion will create added hold and a longer lasting style.

Diffusedrywavy
2 . Scrunch Hair Dry with a Diffuser and Fingers

Lift your hair up with your fingers and move the diffuser up to the ends, motioning the diffuser to the scalp in circular movements. Make sure the blow-dryer speed is on low and try not to completely dry the hair off. Leaving a little bit of moisture will allow the hair to dry naturally.

Partright
3 . Part to the Right

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your right eye and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even right part. A side part is great for longer face shapes because it creates the illusion of width.

Brushlarge
4 . Use a Large Radial Brush

A large radial brush is usually used on long straight hair types or to smooth out wavy or curly hair textures. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

Bangsbackright
5 . Blow-dry Bangs to the Right

To blow-dry your bangs you will need to take your brush and firstly make sure the section is no wider than the diameter of the brush. Next, place your brush on top of your head and under your section. Using your blow-dryer on a medium setting, blow-dry your hair from the roots, slowly working your way to the ends. Make sure to keep the blow-dryer in front of the brush at all times. Continue this step until the bangs are completely dry.

Largehotroller
6 . Use Large Hot Rollers

A large hot roller is used to give your hair a larger curl and to add lots of body.

Verticalsideroller
7 . Apply Hot Rollers Vertically to the Side

Take a section of hair no wider than the diameter of the hot roller and comb it through to ensure there are no knots. Place the roller at the ends of the section of hair, being sure to smooth the ends under, and then twist the roller vertically, making sure to roll it backwards, along the hair shaft to the roots and secure it with a pin or clip. Keep the rollers in your hair until they cool.

Horizontalbackroller
8 . Apply Hot Rollers Vertically in the Back

Take a section of hair from the nape no wider than the diameter of the hot roller and comb it through to ensure there are no knots. Place the roller at the ends of the section of hair, being sure to smooth the ends under, and then twist the roller vertically down the hair shaft to the roots and secure it with a pin or clip. Continue this step until the entire back section of your hair is completed. Keep the rollers in your hair until they cool.

Toprollerforward
9 . Apply Hot Rollers to Bangs

Take your front bang section and roll it up into your hot roller in a forward direction so that the hair curls under. Continue applying hot rollers along the top of your head in the opposite direction, going backwards. Keep the rollers in your hair until they cool.

10 . Scrunch Hair Using Moulding Cream and Fingers

Apply your moulding cream to the ends of your hair and then lightly pinch and scrunch the hair before allowing your moulding cream to set.

Hairsprayfinishing
11 . Apply Hairspray

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
