Short Straight Casual Bob Hairstyle

Added: 29th August 2017
The jagged cut ends of this short and chic 'do make it easy to blow-wave into the shape by smoothing down the sides while adding body to the roots. The bangs are swept across the forehead to soften the face and completes the over-all hairstyle brilliantly. Product is needed to tame fly-away hair.

Our model is looking chic here with a messy bob hairstyle and a side swept fringe. Our model has an oval shaped face with high cheekbones which allows her to try different looks with ease. Her naturally fine hair has been blow dried into place here, with back-combing and teasing throughout to add volume and style. She has a high forehead so she needs to be careful of wearing too much height at the top of her head or exposing too much forehead, but the side-swept bangs work well to counteract this. Here she wisely chooses side-swept bangs that not only highlight her blue eyes but also camouflages her high forehead. The finished look is trendy and chic with a feminine touch thanks to the softly curled under ends.

Our model has a fair complexion and blue eyes. She is wearing her hair in a light platinum blonde shade that matches her complexion and eye color very well. Her fine locks benefit from this ultra-light color which makes them appear thicker thanks to the monochromatic color, while her skin tone looks fresh thanks to this shade. Overall, this cool hair color compliments her style and adds a glow to her fair skin tone.

Gelsprayroots
1 . Apply Gel Spray to Roots

Hold the gel spray no closer than 3 inches from your hair and then evenly mist the gel spray into the roots to create a stronger hold style. Gel spray will hold well and will not look wet or weigh the hair down. Using your gel spray in this fashion will create added hold and a longer lasting style.

Brushlarge
2 . Use a Large Radial Brush

A large radial brush is usually used on long straight hair types or to smooth out wavy or curly hair textures. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

Partzigzag
3 . Part Hair in a Zigzag

Using the corner of your comb, create a straight part and then place your comb at the hairline and drag it through your hair, crisscrossing from left to right as you go. When you reach your crown, lift the comb up and then split the hair to each side, pulling it down to reveal your zigzag part.

Backunder
4 . Blow-dry the Back Under

To blow-dry under, start at the nape/back and place your brush under the section of hair close to the nape. With the dryer held up over the hair, pull the brush from the roots and continue to the mid length's, keeping the blow-dryer following over the top. Once you reach the ends, curve them under. Repeat this step until the section is completely dry.

Sidesunder
5 . Blow-dry the Sides Under

To blow-dry the sides, take out a small section of hair from the front and clip the rest of the hair away. Next, place the brush under the section and then pull the brush and hair forward around your face (this curving motion creates body). Place the hair-dryer on top of the brush until you reach the ends and then turn the ends under. Repeat until dry.

Crown
6 . Blow-dry the Crown

To blow-dry the crown/top sections, take a section of hair no bigger than the diameter of the brush and blow-dry the hair placing the brush under the section of hair. With your blow-dryer in front of the brush, follow the brush in an upwards direction at the roots and an outwards position at the ends for volume and softness. Continue until the section is dry.

Bangsforwardleft
7 . Blow-dry Bangs Forward to the Left

To blow-dry your bangs to the side, clip the back and side sections up, leaving just your bangs out. Place your brush beneath your bangs, holding your hair to the side and remembering to hold the tension between your hair and brush. With your blow-dryer on a low setting, apply heat by starting at the roots and make sure to stretch your hair out to the ends. Repeat until your hair is dry.

Tease
8 . Tease Hair

Pick up a small selection of hair from your mid section no bigger than your tail comb. Place your comb at the roots and then comb up and down until the hair is standing up by itself. Continue to the crown and finish at the sides. Repeat this step if you require more volume.

Sidesout
9 . Style Sides Out Using Wax

To get your sides to sit out, apply a small amount of wax to your fingertips and then working mainly on the ends, pinch them while dragging the hair in an out and upwards motion. Be careful not to overdo that wax or your result will be a flat and limp style.

Hairsprayfinishing
10 . Apply Hairspray

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
