Wispy And Edgy Shag Hairstyle

Added: 30 Aug 2017
The back and sides of this light blonde and pink Shag Hairstyle are tapered close to the head but leaving the edges wispy and long to achieve a textured finish. The top is left longer and layered while the jagged cut bangs are worn down to frame the top of the face for a fab' finish to the over-all style. Only a small amount of product is needed for shine and hold.

Our model is looking stylish here in a short and edgy Shag hairstyle. It is flattering to her features as the jagged fringe helps to balance the width of her face and the asymmetrical styling helps to keep a focus on her best feature -her bright, expressive eyes. Her unique facial features are complemented by this short 'do and her wispy bangs focuses the attention on her beautiful eyes. The end result is a feminine, modern and sophisticated look with some added lift at the roots and a lot of texture all over. This hairstyle is ideal for ladies with fine hair.

Our model is a natural dark blonde who has a warm complexion and blue eyes. Here, she goes for a platinum blonde base with subtle baby pink highlights throughout for a gorgeous finish. This gives her an overall powdery pink tone with a hint of warmth that flatters her skin tone and brings out her eyes. This color is the perfect complement to her funky haircut and is ideal for fashion-forward women.

step 1

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

step 2

A small radial brush is used on shorter hair types to add more body or in longer hair types to create curl. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

step 3

Using your blow-dryer, tilt your head forward and dry your hair using your fingers until your hair is completely dry. Remember, the messier, the better.

step 4

Starting at the nape/back of the hair, place your brush on top of the section and blow-dryer down starting from the roots and using tension as you go. Next, place the blow-dryer underneath the hair and continue to blow-dry the ends out. Make sure to follow the brush with the blow-dryer in an outwards direction. If you like fuller flicks, hold the ends out and roll them up into the brush and apply the heat for longer.

step 5

To blow-dry the sides, take out your first sections from the front and clip the rest of the hair up. Place your brush on top of the section, and starting from the roots, blow-dry down using tension as you go. Next, place the blow-dryer underneath the hair and continue to blow-dry the ends out. Continue this step until the hair is dry.

step 6

Take a section of your hair from your ear to your temple that is the same diameter as the brush. Place your brush on top of the hair starting at the roots and pull the hair slowly in an outwards direction with your blow-dryer following in front. Repeat this step and then once the roots are dry, drag the brush to the mid-lengths and then slowly turn the brush in an inwards direction, flicking it through the ends.

step 7

Take a section of your hair from your ear to your temple that is the same diameter as the brush. Place your brush on top of the hair starting at the roots and pull the hair slowly in an outwards direction with your blow-dryer following in front. Repeat this step and then once the roots are dry, drag the brush to the mid-lengths and then slowly turn the brush in an inwards direction, flicking it through the ends.

step 8

When blow-drying your bangs forward, clip your hair back leaving only your bangs out. Position your bangs evenly in your brush, taking the hair in a forward direction. Blow-dry from roots to ends, keeping the tension consistent, and evenly distribute heat over the whole section of hair that you are working on. Repeat until the hair is dry. This will stop any frizz that may occur.

step 9

Apply gel to your fingertips and then pinch small clumps of hair in an up and forward motion. For a messier look, pinch the clumps in different directions.

step 10

Apply a small amount of moulding cream to your fingertips and then using your fingers, rake through your bangs to the ends for hold and texture.

step 11

Apply a small amount of moulding cream to your fingertips and then lightly piece and pinch the ends of your hair.
