Short Auburn Chin-Length Hairstyle With Layered Bangs

Added: 10 Nov 2010
Looking for something different? This short hairstyle is a great choice. The layered bangs, taper cut, and medium brown shade make it versatile enough to be worn on any occasion. Add a little glamour to your look with this look. The Auburn color on this hairstyle looks amazing and makes you stand out in a crowd!

This auburn brunette hair color is flattering to the round face of our model. Her simple makeup appearance complements her smiling face, which is appealing to look at. It is a fun hairstyle with plenty of short layers through the top to give this look height and texture. For the hair styling technique, the edges are cut to sit at the jaw-line for a clean and crisp finish. The bangs are jagged cut to blend in with the top layers and can be worn as a frame to the top of the face. It is a flattering hairstyle for thin or medium-textured hair. It's not too low or too high, so it works well on most face shapes. The layered bangs look great and add length without weighing down the face. This straight, auburn brunette hairstyle has layered bangs that are tapered at the ends, and it is an excellent option for women who want to add length and volume to their hair.

You can maintain the shape of this hairstyle with regular trimming after four to six weeks which will help keep your hair healthy and prevent split ends. Use your fingers to pinch the styling products to create a textured finish.

step 1

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

step 2

A small radial brush is used on shorter hair types to add more body or in longer hair types to create curl. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

step 3

Using your brush, blow-dry in small sections starting from the nape/back. Tilting your head forward, place the brush an inch below the roots to hold them taut and aim the dryer above the brush for a few seconds before continuing to the ends.

step 4

To blow-dry the sides, take out a small section of hair from the front and clip the rest of the hair away. Next, place the brush under the section and then pull the brush and hair forward around your face (this curving motion creates body). Place the hair-dryer on top of the brush until you reach the ends and then turn the ends under. Repeat until dry.

step 5

When blow-drying your bangs forward, clip your hair back leaving only your bangs out. Position your bangs evenly in your brush, taking the hair in a forward direction. Blow-dry from roots to ends, keeping the tension consistent, and evenly distribute heat over the whole section of hair that you are working on. Repeat until the hair is dry. This will stop any frizz that may occur.

step 6

To blow-dry the crown/top sections, take a section of hair no bigger than the diameter of the brush and blow-dry the hair placing the brush under the section of hair. With your blow-dryer in front of the brush, follow the brush in an upwards direction at the roots and an outwards position at the ends for volume and softness. Continue until the section is dry.

step 7

Take a section of your hair no wider than the diameter of your brush. Place your brush under and at the roots of your section. Then with your blow-dryer above, drag the brush up through the mid-lengths and ends of the hair following with your blow-dryer and pulling the hair to the right. Repeat until your hair is completely dry.

step 8

Take a section of your hair no wider than the diameter of your brush. Place your brush under and at the roots of your section. Then with your blow-dryer above, drag the brush up through the mid-lengths and ends of the hair following with your blow-dryer and pulling the hair to the left. Repeat until your hair is completely dry.

step 9

Pick up a small selection of hair from your mid section no bigger than your tail comb. Place your comb at the roots and then comb up and down until the hair is standing up by itself. Continue to the crown and finish at the sides. Repeat this step if you require more volume.

step 10

Apply some wax to your fingertips and then pull through the ends of your hair in a downward motion to achieve a sculptured look. Pinch clumps of hair in different directions for a messier result.

step 11

Using a small amount of wax, work it through the mid-lengths and ends in a downward, pinching motion. For added texture, apply more pinching and more wax.

step 12

Apply some hard wax to your fingertips and then rub it into your roots while lifting your strands for soft volume.

step 13

To finish the look, apply wax to your fingertips, making sure to smooth the wax over all of your fingers, then simply pinch the wax onto the ends of your hair, applying as much or as little as needed.

step 14

Apply a very small amount of smoothing shine to the palms of your hands and then run it through the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. Be careful not to add any to the roots or a large amount to any section of the hair as smoothing shine can be very heavy on the hair, weighing it down and making it appear oily.

step 15

Lacquer is great for strong hold. A small amount is all that is required to finish and should be applied from an arms length distance to the entire style.
