Sarah Hyland Medium Wavy Layered Dark Chocolate Brunette Bob Haircut

Added: 27 Jun 2016
Loose waves are dressed through the sides and back of these chocolate locks to give the over-all style movement and bounce. This casual style is easy to re-create at home with the right tools and needs a little product to tame fly-away hair. Regular trims are needed to prevent split ends.

Sarah Hyland looks lovely here in a cool, casual wavy hairstyle. Having a heart face shape and low hairline, Sarah’s face looks best in ‘dos with a grown out fringe and longer layers around the face. This layered bob creates a nice frame for her face and allows her hair’s natural texture to do its thing, adding body and bounce all over. The shorter layers in the front of this 'do highlights Sarah’s jaw line cheekbones and gives her tresses some movement. A center part finishes this ‘do off nicely and works well with her short forehead.

Sarah has a warm, fair complexion with golden undertones and hazel green eyes. This makes her suited to hair colors that have a yellow or gold base to them, like the dark chocolate brown seen here. This natural-looking shade is ideal for her complexion, plus it brings out the intensity of her eye color.

Sarah Hyland is an American actress. Born in New York, Hyland attended the Professional Performing Arts School in Manhattan, followed by small roles in the films Private Parts, Annie, and Blind Date.

step 1

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

step 2

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your nose and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even middle part. A middle part is a great way to make small, round face shapes appear longer and thinner.

step 3

A large radial brush is usually used on long straight hair types or to smooth out wavy or curly hair textures. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

step 4

To blow-dry under, start at the nape/back and place your brush under the section of hair close to the nape. With the dryer held up over the hair, pull the brush from the roots and continue to the mid length's, keeping the blow-dryer following over the top. Once you reach the ends, curve them under. Repeat this step until the section is completely dry.

step 5

To blow-dry the sides, take out a small section of hair from the front and clip the rest of the hair away. Next, place the brush under the section and then pull the brush and hair forward around your face (this curving motion creates body). Place the hair-dryer on top of the brush until you reach the ends and then turn the ends under. Repeat until dry.

step 6

To blow-dry the crown/top sections, take a section of hair no bigger than the diameter of the brush and blow-dry the hair placing the brush under the section of hair. With your blow-dryer in front of the brush, follow the brush in an upwards direction at the roots and an outwards position at the ends for volume and softness. Continue until the section is dry.

step 7

Take a section of your hair from your ear to your temple that is the same diameter as the brush. Place your brush on top of the hair starting at the roots and pull the hair slowly in a backward direction with your blow-dryer following in front. Be sure the section is dry and then repeat the step on a new section of hair directly behind.

step 8

Take a section of your hair from your ear to your temple that is the same diameter as the brush. Place your brush on top of the hair starting at the roots and pull the hair slowly in a backward direction with your blow-dryer following in front. Be sure the section is dry and then repeat the step on a new section of hair directly behind.

step 9

A large curling iron is used to create large soft curls and can be used to add body.

step 10

Take a small section of hair and place the ends at the base of your curling iron barrel and then wrap the hair up around the barrel until you reach your mid-lengths. Hold the hair for 5 to 10 seconds and then release the hair by unwinding the strands backwards.

step 11

Apply a small amount of moulding cream to your fingertips and then lightly piece and pinch the ends of your hair.

step 12

Apply a very small amount of smoothing shine to the palms of your hands and then run it through the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. Be careful not to add any to the roots or a large amount to any section of the hair as smoothing shine can be very heavy on the hair, weighing it down and making it appear oily.
