Description

(Added: 30th August 2015 )
Beautiful waves and curls are dressed all through the back and sides of these blonde locks to give the over-all style plenty of bounce and movement making this a fantastic style to complement a long face. This hairstyle is easy to re-create with the right tools and needs product for shine and hold.

Emily West goes for a fun and flirty look here with long ringlet curls that have a vintage feel to them. Emily is a fan of the old Hollywood look that was favoured by stars like Marilyn Monroe. Here, she does a modern take on that style with loose ringlets with a flip at the part. This hairstyle is a good option for Emily who has an oval face shape and large expressive features. The soft curly texture also helps to soften up her strong jawline and it pumps up the volume in her fine hair. The added volume at the top is another good feature for Emily as it adds visual height to her low forehead area.

Color-wise, Emily has naturally dark blonde hair that she lightens up to various tones of blonde. While she has favoured light platinum blonde tones in the past, here she opts for a medium golden blonde shade with lowlights and highlights throughout. This multidimensional color looks great with her warm skin tone and bright blue eyes.

Emily West is an American music artist. She has been nominated for Vocal Event of the Year Award by the Academy of Country Music.

Styling Steps

Mousse
1 . Apply Mousse

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

Partleft
2 . Part to the Left

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your left eye and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even left part. A side part is great for longer face shapes because it creates the illusion of width.

Brushmedium
3 . Use a Medium Radial Brush

A medium radial brush is used on medium to long hair types to smooth out wavy or curly hair textures or to add body to straight hair. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

Backunder
4 . Blow-dry the Back Under

To blow-dry under, start at the nape/back and place your brush under the section of hair close to the nape. With the dryer held up over the hair, pull the brush from the roots and continue to the mid length's, keeping the blow-dryer following over the top. Once you reach the ends, curve them under. Repeat this step until the section is completely dry.

Sidesunder
5 . Blow-dry the Sides Under

To blow-dry the sides, take out a small section of hair from the front and clip the rest of the hair away. Next, place the brush under the section and then pull the brush and hair forward around your face (this curving motion creates body). Place the hair-dryer on top of the brush until you reach the ends and then turn the ends under. Repeat until dry.

Curlingironmed
6 . Use a Medium Curling Iron

A medium curling iron is used to create medium sized curls.

Backcurlingiron
7 . Use a Curling Iron to Curl the Back

Starting from the back, take a small section of hair and place the ends at the base of your curling iron barrel and then wrap the hair up around the barrel until you reach your roots. Hold the hair for 5 to 10 seconds and then release the hair by unwinding the strands backwards. Continue this step until the entire back section of your hair is completed.

8 . Use a Curling Iron on the Front and Sides

Starting at the front, take a small section of hair and place the ends at the base of your curling iron barrel and then wrap the hair up around the barrel until you reach your roots. Hold the hair for 5 to 10 seconds and then release the hair by unwinding the strands backwards. Continue this step until all of the hair through your front and sides has been curled.

9 . Piece the Ends Using Wax

Apply a small amount of wax to your fingertips and then lightly piece and pinch the ends of your hair.

Hairsprayfinishing
10 . Apply Hairspray

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
