Long Straight Light Golden Blonde Updo Hairstyle with Side Swept Bangs

Added: 30 Oct 2017
This light blonde hair is pulled back to the nape of the neck, then twisted and pinned at the back to create this sleek curled 'do that will turn heads at any occasion. This stunning hairstyle is possible to create at home and needs strong hold product to keep it in place all day or night.

Our model goes for an elegant updo here with her hair pinned at the back and sleek, side-swept curled bangs at the side. Our model's hair is medium to long length which suits her triangular-shaped face nicely. Here she draws attention away from her wide forehead by wearing a longer, side swept curled fringe that sculpts to the side of the face and joins the rest of the hairdo at the nape of the neck. The deep side part that is flipped over gives her hair a lift at the crown, while the rest of her hair is pinned at the side in a stylish twist. Her hair's naturally straight texture has been curled with hot rollers, making it easier to manipulate into this style.

Our model has blue eyes and a tanned, peachy skin tone which makes her suited to soft beige blonde tones and icy platinum shades the best. Here, she goes for a multidimensional golden blonde base with subtle icy blonde highlights throughout. This gives her hair a natural looking light blonde shade which flatters her golden complexion and showcases her intense brown eyes. The subtle copper tones throughout the bottom layers give her hair a gorgeous base, and brings out the golden flecks in her eyes and the warmth in her skin tone.

step 1

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

step 2

Using a blow-dryer on a low heat setting, use the palm of your hand in slow circular movements to dry off the hair and to create a disorganized effect.

step 3

Use your blow-dryer and your fingers to dry the back of your hair by moving your hair around to allow the heat to pass through it.

step 4

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your right eye and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even right part. A side part is great for longer face shapes because it creates the illusion of width.

step 5

To blow-dry your bangs you will need to take your brush and firstly make sure the section is no wider than the diameter of the brush. Next, place your brush on top of your head and under your section. Using your blow-dryer on a medium setting, blow-dry your hair from the roots, slowly working your way to the ends. Make sure to keep the blow-dryer in front of the brush at all times. Continue this step until the bangs are completely dry.

step 6

A large hot roller is used to give your hair a larger curl and to add lots of body.

step 7

Take a section of hair no wider than the diameter of the hot roller and comb it through to ensure there are no knots. Place the roller at the ends of the section of hair, being sure to smooth the ends under, and then twist the roller vertically, making sure to roll it backwards, along the hair shaft to the roots and secure it with a pin or clip. Keep the rollers in your hair until they cool.

step 8

Take a section of hair from the nape no wider than the diameter of the hot roller and comb it through to ensure there are no knots. Place the roller at the ends of the section of hair, being sure to smooth the ends under, and then twist the roller vertically down the hair shaft to the roots and secure it with a pin or clip. Continue this step until the entire back section of your hair is completed. Keep the rollers in your hair until they cool.

step 9

Apply your gel to the ends of your hair and then lightly pinch and scrunch the hair before allowing your gel to set.

step 10

Once your hairstyle is complete, hold your hair into place and then pin your hair into your desired direction.

step 11

Lacquer is great for strong hold. A small amount is all that is required to finish and should be applied from an arms length distance to the entire style.
