Description

(Added: 5th May 2017 )
The sides of this short no-fuss 'do are styled back towards the back of the head while the top is blow waved to the side, creating a casual style that is perfect for any occasion. Product is needed to keep this style in place and regular trims will help maintain this shape.

Our model styles her short hair into a chic ‘do here with a windblown finish. This is an excellent way for her to style up her short layered hair for a night on the town or a casual day out- it's a versatile 'do. Our model styles her fringe area back off her face while the sides are also blow dried back with beautiful results. She has an oval face shape with a wide, broad forehead, which can support high volume, upswept hairstyles like this one. This is an easy and elegant way to style short hair that has an added boost of volume. Ladies with wide or square faces will look great in this 'do too, thanks to the extra volume at the crown.

Our model has a warm complexion and blue eyes. She is best suited to hair colors that are on the warm and golden side of the spectrum. Here, she opts for a natural looking dark golden blonde base that has a honey blonde and copper red highlights throughout. Overall this creates a gorgeous red-blonde shade throughout that has a brilliant shine.

Styling Steps

Mousse
1 . Apply Mousse

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

Partright
2 . Part to the Right

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your right eye and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even right part. A side part is great for longer face shapes because it creates the illusion of width.

Brushsmall
3 . Use a Small Radial Brush

A small radial brush is used on shorter hair types to add more body or in longer hair types to create curl. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

Fingerdry
4 . Finger Dry the Back with Blow-dryer

Use your blow-dryer and your fingers to dry the back of your hair by moving your hair around to allow the heat to pass through it.

Crown
5 . Blow-dry the Crown

To blow-dry the crown/top sections, take a section of hair no bigger than the diameter of the brush and blow-dry the hair placing the brush under the section of hair. With your blow-dryer in front of the brush, follow the brush in an upwards direction at the roots and an outwards position at the ends for volume and softness. Continue until the section is dry.

Topback
6 . Blow-dry the Top Back

Starting just above the crown take a section of your hair that is the same diameter as the brush. Place your brush underneath and at the roots of your section and then with your blow-dryer in front, drag the brush up and then turn it under when you reach the ends.

7 . Blow-dry Left Side Back

Take a section of your hair from your ear to your temple that is the same diameter as the brush. Place your brush on top of the hair starting at the roots and pull the hair slowly in a backward direction with your blow-dryer following in front. Be sure the section is dry and then repeat the step on a new section of hair directly behind.

8 . Blow-dry Right Side Back

Bangsbackright
9 . Blow-dry Bangs to the Right

To blow-dry your bangs you will need to take your brush and firstly make sure the section is no wider than the diameter of the brush. Next, place your brush on top of your head and under your section. Using your blow-dryer on a medium setting, blow-dry your hair from the roots, slowly working your way to the ends. Make sure to keep the blow-dryer in front of the brush at all times. Continue this step until the bangs are completely dry.

Tease
10 . Tease Hair

Pick up a small selection of hair from your mid section no bigger than your tail comb. Place your comb at the roots and then comb up and down until the hair is standing up by itself. Continue to the crown and finish at the sides. Repeat this step if you require more volume.

Bangsupleft
11 . Style Bangs Up and to the Left Using Wax

Apply a small amount of wax then starting at your roots, apply the wax as you drag your hair in an upwards, to the left, motion.

Sidesbehindear
12 . Wax Side Behind Ear

Apply a small amount of wax to your fingertips, then place it at the roots above your ear and drag it through as you pull your hair behind your ear.

Backdown
13 . Wax Hair Down at the Back

Apply some wax to your fingertips and then pull through the ends of your hair in a downward motion to achieve a sculptured look. Pinch clumps of hair in different directions for a messier result.

Hairsprayfinishing
14 . Apply Hairspray

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
