Added: 02 Jun 2011
Get that all-over sun-kissed look with this short straight hairstyle. With simple side-swept bangs and blonde highlights on the ends, this light copper brunette hair color is the perfect summer look! Our model in this hairstyle looks stunning with silver eye makeup and nude lips. The blonde highlights make her look more youthful, and the golden brown highlights give the hair shine. This gorgeous copper-golden hairstyle has highlights added all over for contrast spicing up this simple layered style. The long bangs are blow-dried smooth over one eye completing this hairstyle perfectly. This gorgeous 'do is an excellent complement to short straight hair. A side-swept bang creates a modern twist on a classic style, and the light blonde highlights will bring out the blue in your eyes. The parting on the side will help frame your face and create more definition, while soft waves give this look some movement. This hairstyle is ideal for oval, oblong, square, and diamond face shapes, as it will help create an illusion of width and angularity around the face. It is created with a side-swept bang that extends almost to the top of the ear, curving at the crown before straightening out to form the classic side part. This classic hairstyle lengthens your face and makes you look younger, and is perfect for beginners who want to maintain a short hairstyle with an easy, classy, and modern look. You can easily keep this hairstyle looking fresh by trimming it every 4 to 6 weeks. Shape the hair with a large round brush, or use a curling iron or straightener with low heat to set the style in place.

step 1

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

step 2

A medium radial brush is used on medium to long hair types to smooth out wavy or curly hair textures or to add body to straight hair. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

step 3

To blow-dry under, start at the nape/back and place your brush under the section of hair close to the nape. With the dryer held up over the hair, pull the brush from the roots and continue to the mid length's, keeping the blow-dryer following over the top. Once you reach the ends, curve them under. Repeat this step until the section is completely dry.

step 4

Take a section of your hair from your ear to your temple that is the same diameter as the brush. Place your brush on top of the hair starting at the roots and pull the hair slowly in a backward direction with your blow-dryer following in front. Be sure the section is dry and then repeat the step on a new section of hair directly behind.

step 5

Take a section of your hair from your ear to your temple that is the same diameter as the brush. Place your brush on top of the hair starting at the roots and pull the hair slowly in a backward direction with your blow-dryer following in front. Be sure the section is dry and then repeat the step on a new section of hair directly behind.

step 6

To blow-dry your bangs to the side, clip the back and side sections up, leaving just your bangs out. Place your brush beneath your bangs, holding your hair to the side and remembering to hold the tension between your hair and brush. With your blow-dryer on a low setting, apply heat by starting at the roots and make sure to stretch your hair out to the ends. Repeat until your hair is dry.

step 7

To blow-dry the crown/top sections, take a section of hair no bigger than the diameter of the brush and blow-dry the hair placing the brush under the section of hair. With your blow-dryer in front of the brush, follow the brush in an upwards direction at the roots and an outwards position at the ends for volume and softness. Continue until the section is dry.

step 8

Apply some wax to your fingertips and then pull through the ends of your hair in a downward motion to achieve a sculptured look. Pinch clumps of hair in different directions for a messier result.

step 9

Using a small amount of wax, work it through the mid-lengths and ends in a downward, pinching motion. For added texture, apply more pinching and more wax.

step 10

Apply wax to your fingertips then drag through your bangs, sweeping the hair to the left as you go. Pinching the ends will create soft texture.

step 11

Apply a very small amount of smoothing shine to the palms of your hands and then run it through the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. Be careful not to add any to the roots or a large amount to any section of the hair as smoothing shine can be very heavy on the hair, weighing it down and making it appear oily.

step 12

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
