Braided Updo With Corkscrew Curls And Side Swept Bangs

Added: 23 Jun 2017
One side of this short 'do is braided back behind the ear, while the opposite side is left out to soften the face and complete the over-all look magnificently. This hairstyle is perfect to complement a long face for any occasion and needs a little product to pinch through the ends for hold and definition.

Our model styles her short, curly hair up here with some corkscrew curls and a side braid—the perfect 'do for a night out on the town. Having a short bob can limit one's styling options but this is a great way to change up your look for a special event. Our model has French braided one side back around the ear and to the nape while the rest of the hair has large bouncy curls throughout. She has a triangular shaped face so a short bob really shows off her high cheekbones nicely, and works well with her defined chin area. The low, side-sweeping bangs are ideal for the triangle face shape's typical broad forehead.

Our model's color here is a light coffee brown tone with subtle highlights throughout. She has subtle blonde and pink undertones in her complexion so the lighter coppery-pink highlights through the ends are ideal for her. This is a great way to add some funky color to brunette hair while keeping damage to a minimum. The berry pink lips add a final touch to this chic and trendy look.

step 1

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

step 2

Using the corner of your comb and standing in front of a mirror find the middle of your left eye and then drag the comb straight up slowly until you reach your hairline and then continue back in a straight manner to achieve an even left part. A side part is great for longer face shapes because it creates the illusion of width.

step 3

Lift your hair up with your fingers and move the diffuser up to the ends, motioning the diffuser to the scalp in circular movements. Make sure the blow-dryer speed is on low and try not to completely dry the hair off. Leaving a little bit of moisture will allow the hair to dry naturally.

step 4

When blow-drying your bangs to the side, section your hair up and clip your hair back to leave only your bangs out. Remember to make sure that your bangs are damp to make blow-drying more effective. Next, take your brush and place it underneath the hair and then blow-dry starting from the roots, adding tension to the hair as you go. Slowly pull your section down to the ends and continue until dry.

step 5

Apply gel-wax to your fingertips and then tilt your head forward and scrunch your hair.

step 6

Take your section of hair and pull it tightly across to the opposite side and pin it securely into place.
