Mary Steenburgen Medium Wavy Hairstyle

Added: 15 Feb 2016
Waves and curls are dressed all through the back and sides of these brunette tresses to give the over-all style plenty of bounce and movement. The bangs are smoothed down to frame the top of the face and completes the over-all look magnificently. Product is needed to tame fly-away hair.

Mary Steenburgen looks lovely here in bouncy waves and an eye-skimming fringe. This hairstyle is ideal for her oval face shape and thick hair texture. Mary’s curls have a soft undone look to them here which gives her ‘do a sexy, youthful finish. They also soften up the angles in her face and minimize her strong jaw line. Having a wide forehead and small eyes, Mary looks best in bangs. These ones are thick and blunt cut, which draws the attention to her eyes and makes them stand out.

As for her color, Mary is a natural brunette with an olive complexion and green eyes. This rich chocolate brown color is just right for her skin tone and it makes a nice contrast with her hazel irises. The ends are slightly lighter here, giving Mary’s locks a sun-kissed finish.

Mary Steenburgen is an American actress. She won the Academy and Golden Globe for playing the role of Lynda Dummar in the film Melvin and Howard.

step 1

Apply styling mousse to damp hair, using your palm as a measuring guide, and evenly distribute it along the hair shaft. Styling mousse will add hold and can help achieve better results.

step 2

A small radial brush is used on shorter hair types to add more body or in longer hair types to create curl. When selecting a radial brush, always use one with a pure bristle as this will not tear or damage the hair.

step 3

When blow-drying your bangs forward, clip your hair back leaving only your bangs out. Position your bangs evenly in your brush, taking the hair in a forward direction. Blow-dry from roots to ends, keeping the tension consistent, and evenly distribute heat over the whole section of hair that you are working on. Repeat until the hair is dry. This will stop any frizz that may occur.

step 4

Using your blow-dryer, dry your hair using your fingers, separating the hair and allowing it to dry at the roots first then the mid lengths and then the ends. Making sure the roots are dry first will ensure that your hairstyle does not fall flat.

step 5

A large curling iron is used to create large soft curls and can be used to add body.

step 6

Take a small section of hair and place the ends at the base of your curling iron barrel and then wrap the hair up around the barrel until you reach your mid-lengths. Hold the hair for 5 to 10 seconds and then release the hair by unwinding the strands backwards.

step 7

Apply a small amount of wax to your fingertips and then lightly piece and pinch the ends of your hair.

step 8

Apply a very small amount of smoothing shine to the palms of your hands and then run it through the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. Be careful not to add any to the roots or a large amount to any section of the hair as smoothing shine can be very heavy on the hair, weighing it down and making it appear oily.

step 9

To finish, apply a minimal amount of hairspray from an arms length distance to the top, sides and back. Take care not to use too much or you will end up with a white, flaky residue which looks like dandruff.
