Description
A casual long straight half up hairstyle can be described as smooth, sleek, simple and not over the top. Half of the hair (generally the top or sides) is generally pulled, tied, or pinned back with the back left out to hang down below the shoulders. Some other variations involve teasing the top for extra height or leaving sides wisps to hang down. Bangs can be swept over or across or just tied back completely. This type of hairstyle can be worn everyday at work, home, to the shops and even to important events and interviews.
Method
These updos are generally pinned, tied, teased, gelled, brushed smooth and lacquered into place. Styling time varies depending on how much work is done to the hair, meaning it can be as little as 10 minutes for simple pinned looks up, up to about 45 minutes for more intricate styles.
Benefit
One of the biggest benefits of casual long straight half updos (on naturally straight hair) is that they hold together well and last quite a long time. The reason is because moisture or wind do not enter the hair and collapse the style. These looks are also effective for keeping the hair out of the eyes and off the face and, due to their simplicity, they allow clothing, jewellery and other elements to enjoy some attention. They are generally quick and easy to put together and don’t usually require a visit to the hairstylist.
