There's nothing worse than spending hours styling your strands super straight only to have them frizz up and kink halfway through the night. So for a straight strand party look with staying power, we've put together the best hairstyling tips that you'll need to create, keep and rock any party look with straight hair this holiday season.

Before You Straighten...

Straight hair starts with great hair. When your locks are straight they're on show for the world to see so make sure your locks are in tip-top condition by using a hair mask a few days before the party to hydrate and nourish your locks.

Wash your locks with shampoo and conditioner designed to promote smooth and straight locks.

Work some heat protection styling products through your damp hair, and then some straightening balm.

Straightening Your Hair...

To limit hair damage, try to only use a hair straightener or a blow-dryer to get your locks straight. Try to avoid using both.

For super straight hair using your blow-dryer that looks healthy and shiny, use a natural bristle round hair brush to detangle and pull your hair smooth and taunt as you dry.

Use the nozzle attachment on your blow-dryer to direct and concentrate the heat and always blow the air down your hair shaft to avoid fly-away strands.

Work from the back of your head to the front in sections to achieve a really smooth and professional result. Clip all of your hair away except for one section using hair pins and then work on that section until it is completely dry. Once you've completely dried the first section, unclip another section and then repeat in all other sections until your hair is straight.

Keeping Your Hair Straight...

If your blow-dryer has a cool shot button then switch it on and blow the cool air over your strands to set your straightened style in place.

Ensure that every bit of moisture is removed from your hair to avoid hair frizz ruining your smooth locks.

Once all of your hair is dry, apply a small amount of shine serum to your palms, rub them together and then smooth over your locks to set your style in place and to eliminate any fly-away strands. For extra hold, finish with a mist of hairspray.

These straight hairstyling tips should leave you with salon straight locks that you can then pull into a great half up half down hairstyle, a super updo, or just let your hair loose (as pictured above) for a fabulous party look!
