Mariah Carey returns with possibly her best album to date. This CD hasn't left the top 5 US chart position since its release 5 months ago, and it's all due to the fantastic mix of R&B, dance, pop, gospel and 70s soul inspired ballads. This is Mariah doing what she does best, singing with that 5 octave voice and writing and co-producing all the tracks.
There are a number of hits on The Emancipation of Mimi, starting with the world-wide smash and the longest running US #1 for 2005, "We Belong Together." This beautiful ballad has so far spent 14 weeks at number one and has made history as the most played song on US radio. Another huge hit is the funky dance number "Shake it Off," which is currently sitting at #2 on the US charts behind "We Belong Together," and is tipped to become Mariah's 17th US #1.
Other highlights include the infectious dance track "Get Your Number," sweeping ballads, "Circles" and "Fly Like A Bird" and the funky R&B flavored "One And Only."
