When over worked business tycoon, Joanna Eberhart (Nicole Kidman) gets fired she and her husband, Walter (Matthew Broderick) decide to move to the country to live a more peaceful life in the town of Stepford.
Over-run by perfectly groomed wives, who seem to do nothing but live for their husbands, Stepford is far from relaxing for Joanna, so she teams up with Bobbie Markowitz (Bette Midler), the only other normal woman in Stepford, to investigate their mysterious little town, and discovers that it's not so perfect after all.
