Celebrity Hairstyles: Best & Worst 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards
By Kate on 31 January 2012
We bring you the glamorous, and not so glamorous, hairstyles from the 2012 SAG Awards!
While waves in dark hair can sometimes lack definition, Outstanding Female Actor In A Leading Role winner, Viola Davis, had no problem ensuring her wavy hair was full of structure and style. Aleksa Palladino on the other hand, hit the red carpet with frizz filled waves.
Braids continued their trend on the red carpet and were seen decorating long, free flowing hairstyles and upstyles alike. The key to pulling off the braided upstyle successfully is as Dianna Agron shows - making the braid small, simple and part of your hairstyle. Kaley Cuoco's braid seems to overwhelm her updo, and the blonde color contrast turns what should be a delicate feature into a clunky looking faux headband.
While some might say straight hair is boring, especially for a glamorous red carpet event, we say take a look at Rose Byrne! Her straight strands make a statement and show off the health and shine of her brunette locks. Straight locks with less definition, à la Lea Michele's long 'do, just doesn't have the same wow factor.
For some, an updo is all about the back of the style, but if you're wearing an updo to an awards show then the focus will be on the front. Emma Stone gets her updo right with a simple, classic finish. Her locks are glossy and frizz free, her side-swept bangs add a touch of old Hollywood glamour, and the slight backcombing through her crown gives her look just enough lift. For her updo, Jenna Fisher fails with a much flatter finish through the crown, uneven hair color and fly-away plagued curls.
