At night, your body winds down and repairs itself from the stresses of the day. That means that night-time treatments can be absorbed more readily, giving you the chance to wake up with a glorious glow! To find out more, take a look at these beauty routine ideas and then give them a go!

Perform a Quick Cleansing Regime

Model with long blonde hairWashing your face at night is a must, especially if you wear makeup during the day. But if you’re tired from the day’s events, it can be hard to motivate yourself.

The key is to make your night-time cleansing routine as quick and easy as possible, and to do it as soon as you get home, before you sit down and cooking dinner or getting the kids into bed gets in the way.

Tips for a Simple Skin Cleansing Routine

A serious cleansing routine can involve a makeup remover, various cleansers (yes, more than one!), a face scrub and a toner, so it’s no wonder some nights it’s easier to forgo your cleansing routine. Instead of skipping a night-time cleanse, however, do yourself and your skin a favor and commit to just cleansing your skin.

  • Get one cleanser that will remove makeup and dirt from your skin and gently wash your face. It should take less than five minutes. If you have heavy makeup then you may require two washes, but again, this should only take a few minutes.
  • Use a cleansing cloth or a clean face washer to help wash off the cleanser and you’ll save more time and give your skin a gentler, deeper clean while you’re at it.
  • If you want, you can then take an extra forty seconds and tone your skin with some toner on a cotton ball. A toner will ensure that all of your cleanser is removed and help prep your skin for moisturizer.

Beauty tip: if you don’t want to miss out on the extra skin goodness of a more involved cleansing routine, add the extras, such as using a scrub, a toner or applying a mask to your quick cleansing routine on a night when you have more time, or during the weekend when you can invest in some pampering me-time.

Moisturize Your Skin

Model with long light brown hairRegardless of your job or where you’ve been during the day, chances are your skin is dry by the end of the day so it’s important to take care of your skin at night. Try the following to keep all areas of your skin nourished.

Face
When it comes to moisturizing your face, use a night cream. A night cream will not only refresh the delicate skin on your face and décolletage, it will also work to fight wrinkles, dryness and uneven skin tone. It doesn’t take long to apply a night cream. Add it right after you’ve cleansed so the cream can be absorbed more readily and has the longest time possible to work its magic on your skin, or keep the cream on your nightstand and apply it just before jumping into bed.

Body
Apply an all over body moisturizer. Look for one that boasts 24 hour hydration and apply before bed or when you have a spare ten minutes. Your skin is the largest organ in your body so it pays to take care of it. The act of massaging an all over moisturizer into your skin should also help you to relax, which will promote a better sleep.

Hands and Feet
The skin on your hands and feet can get a lot of wear and tear so pay extra attention to these areas or use a specialized hand or foot cream for added benefits. You can even go the extra mile and pop on cotton socks and gloves after applying your cream to help it sink into your skin.

Lips
Whether they’ve been exposed to sun and wind, or covered in drying lipstick all day, your lips need a moisture boost at night. Apply Vaseline or lip gloss before bed and let it soothe and moisturize your lips so they’re nice and supple in the morning.
